Second Chance Heroes Saving The World This Summer
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Independent developer Rocket City Studios recently announced a Summer release for its debut video game, Second Chance Heroes. The action title gives players the chance to play as one of 12 unique warriors cloned from the DNA of famous historical figures like Joan of Arc and Abraham Lincoln, battling hordes of aliens, robots, and undead bent on destroying the world. Players can join forces with up to three other players to smash their enemies.

We at Rocket City Studios set out to create a fast playing, highly accessible game that will excite every kind of RPG gamer,” said Matthew Newhook, President of Rocket City Studios Canada. “Second Chance Heroes is that game.”

Second Chance Heroes is a cooperative action RPG that takes place in a world overrun by apocalyptic disasters!? Made weak by over-exposure to kitten videos, reality TV and ironic photos of bacon, the citizens of the modern world are entirely unprepared when the end of the world arrives! Unable to save ourselves from evil robots, nuclear missiles, sentient fast food, alien invasions and hordes of the undead, our only hope lies in the past. Put together a dream team of cloned heroes drawn from throughout human history and use them to push back the apocalyptic tide! Or don't and just let the zombie chickens eat your face.?

    XCOM: Enemy Unknown Reviewed
    6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

MacWorld has posted a new review of Feral Interactive's XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Elite Edition. The game includes the Slingshot and Elite Soldier Pack add-on content, as well as the Second Wave update. Developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games for Windows PC and consoles, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a re-imagining of the classic X-COM: UFO Defense.

    From the review:

XCOM proves incredibly fun. Turn-based combat means you’ll have to protect each squad member, outfitting them as best as your current research, funding, and training allow for. When a squad member is killed in combat—and this will happen—it’s up to you to clear the level of the assorted humanoid, grey, insect-like, hulking, and zombie aliens, and get the survivors out alive. The game’s graphics, sound and music delivering a rare level of tension that makes every decision feel critical.

XCOM’s multiplayer gameplay allows you to create mixed squads of humans and aliens prior to going against an opponent. The multiplayer gameplay mode supports both LAN modes and online gameplay via GameRanger, so you might have to dig around for someone to play against, although the experience still proves fun.

    Jagged Alliance: Flashback Kickstarter Successful
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Full Control has successfully concluded its Kickstarter campaign to fund the creation of Jagged Alliance: Flashback. Planned for release on Mac, Windows, and Linux PCs, the game is a reboot of the classic Jagged Alliance turn-based tactical action series. Like its predecessors, Flashback will put players in control of a squad of mercenaries and give them the chance to manage their activities both on and off the field of battle.

You guys truly are awesome :D WE MADE IT without having to rob a bank or Thomas making a last minute dash for Gold. We're so grateful and we just can't wait to get started on this incredible game.

As mentioned before, we'll setup a Slacker Backer initiative on our minisite, (www.jaggedallianceflashback.com) which will run for at least 2-3 months, so both new and current backer will have a chance to make a push for additional Stretch Goals. And yes, we know, the page definitely needs some more love. But we just couldn't give it over the last weeks. But we will in the very near future. But yes, the most important thing is: Stretch Goals can still be reached.
