Cryptozoic Seeking Funds For HEX: Shards of Fate
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

An IMG reader has informed us that Cryptozoic Entertainment, creator of the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, has unveiled a new Kickstarter campaign to fund HEX: Shards of Fate. The game will offer players a massively multiplayer online experience centering around a full featured digital trading card game. Cryptozoic is hoping to gather at least $300,000 before the campaign's June 7 conclusion.

What are our goals for HEX?
  • We want to bring together both experienced TCG veterans and new players who have never played a collectible card game before. The game is free to download and play, so anyone can give it a try!
  • We want you to join guilds with other TCG players and practice dueling with the latest deck builds.
  • We want you to enter online TCG tournaments and win awesome prizes.
  • We want you to take your TCG skills and have them drive an RPG experience, unlocking new cards and treasure, as well as developing your character within a compelling, completely original story.
  • Most of all, we want the experience to be deep, engaging, and polished.
That’s what we want to provide for you … but we need your help!

HEX takes everything you would expect from a full, deep trading card game and combines it with a massively multiplayer online role-playing game

Let’s start by discussing the elements of the TCG.

The great news is that HEX was designed from the ground up to take advantage of the “digital” part of “digital TCG”. This means we have innovated a number of fun and unique ways of doing things that have never been done before in a TCG, which are detailed below.

Here at Cryptozoic, our bread and butter is creating polished TCGs; it’s how we make our living. When it comes to producing a balanced and deep TCG experience, the design is king. The fun digital features will always support and enhance the play experience, and never trump it. Features like clean resource tracking, transforming cards, and allowing you to easily broadcast your games to viewers across the internet are all possible due to innovation in the digital space.

For experienced TCG players, we have designed the card set around Booster Draft and Limited play. We have engineered the card sets to launch three times a year, like a standard TCG. We have put a tremendous amount of work into creating the best possible online TCG experience, both in terms of balance and design, as well as a graphical polish.

Not only that, but surrounding this TCG is an amazing online role-playing experience

As can be expected from the company that makes the World of Warcraft TCG, we are a company filled to the brim with hardcore MMORPG players, and some of our designers have even built MMORPGs in the past. For example, Kevin Jordan, who was one of the three original designers of the universe’s most successful MMORPG, World of Warcraft, is now the lead for the HEX MMORPG elements.

As hardcore MMORPG players, we had a huge list of features that we thought could really make an online TCG incredible! Not the least of which is a robust, story-based PVE experience, complete with dungeons and raids and monsters and loot, all tied around playing a card game. When we started thinking about PVE, community, guilds, auction houses, factions, storytelling (all the stuff that makes an MMORPG fun), we knew that HEX could be something special, something that had never been done before!

Check out the pages below for a more detailed description of the game's proposed features.

Stoic has announced a partnership with Curse Gaming to host an official Wiki for the company's upcoming strategy role playing adventure game, The Banner Saga. The site includes a variety of information about gameplay and unit types, as well as a collection of videos. The Banner Saga will combine elements of turn based strategy, role playing, and adventure games, and will follow the exploits of a band of vikings.

Players will be able to travel through stunning landscapes straight out of an animated film as their party escapes what could be the end of everything. Mac Game Store Opens The Dungeon Gate
6:00 AM | IMG News | Comment on this story

Dungeon Gate from Wild Games Studio is now available for purchase and download at Mac Game Store. The RPG puts players in the role of Dysan, a young man capable of shapeshifting into the forms of creatures he encounters. To defeat the evil tyrant subjugating his people he will need to utilize the abilities of all the creatures he can mimic.

Dungeon Gate is different. You can not equip your character. You must drain the DNA of creatures to use their equipment, power or capacity.

Why do you shapeshift? Because it will take you deeper in the game. If you're too weak to fight or you want to infiltrate an enemy camp, drain the DNA of one of your enemies and turn them. Too tall to access a passage? Drain the DNA of a small creature to pass. To succeed you must transform into different creatures throughout the adventure. You can drain the DNA of all living things in the game, even dungeon bosses.

It's an Open World. You can walk as you want in a large valley, visiting several houses and villages. You will pass through five dungeons in the game, dungeons with five different environments and unique gameplay.

Once Upon a time…

The story takes place in the besieged world of Barrilian, which is being devastated by the dragon hordes. In a small village, pillaged and left to burn, not one soul was spared except for two babies; one recovered by the dragons and the other by a mysterious mage…

20 years later, a vicious tyrant has taken over the people of Barrilian, forcing them into slavery by using the influence he has over the dragons.
He uses his power to make the people extract precious stones from mines, stones which enhance his magical skills. The citizens helplessly witness the dictator's increasing magical strength. A young man named Dysan will perhaps change everything…

  • RPG/Adventure with more than 30 characters to upgrade
  • Huge open world to explore + 5 Dungeons with traps, puzzles and challenging fights
