Blizzard Entertainment has released another cinematic trailer for StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm. Scheduled for a March 12 launch, the expansion for Blizzard's popular sci-fi RTS includes a new Kerrigan focused single player saga and a variety of new units to make use of in multiplayer warfare.

Anomaly 2 Announced

11 bit studios has announced work on Anomaly 2, the sequel to its strategy game, Anomaly Warzone Earth. Coming to Mac, Windows, and Linux PCs in the second quarter of this year, the "tower offense" title will feature multiplayer action, a new single player campaign, and more than a million tactical combinations for squad building.
In the years following the invasion of Earth in 2018, the planet is overrun by alien machines. Humankind is on the verge of extinction. Banded together in huge convoys, they search the frozen tundra for food and supplies. EVE Online Passes 500,000 Subscriber Milestone

CCP Games has announced that their sci-fi MMO EVE Online has surpassed the 500,000 subscriber mark worldwide for the first time in the game’s history. The company also revealed that it will commemorate EVE Online's tenth anniversary (May 6) with a year long celebration of gatherings and online events.
“Ten years after release, it is incredibly inspiring that, through a lot of hard work from our EVE Online team, we are crossing the half-million subscriber mark,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP. “For me, this is a true testament that EVE can live on forever, as long as we do right by her. We have not come to this point alone; millions of players have helped push us to this milestone. CCP will commemorate EVE Online’s tenth anniversary throughout the year under a unified “Second Decade” theme. The year-long celebration will kick off in late April in Reykjavik, Iceland with the sold-out EVE Fanfest, EVE Online’s annual player festival which will be streamed live online. EVE’s official tenth birthday follows on May 6th and will mark the official start of the second decade of the EVE Universe.
Throughout the year, CCP will be supporting player gatherings around the world and holding in-game events to further the storyline of the combined universe as it continues to grow.

Gaming Without Text In Toki Tori 2

Two Tribes has unveiled a new blog about the development of the upcoming Toki Tori 2, sequel to the company's original puzzle platformer. The new information focuses on how the developers will convey important information to the players without the use of text.
By this point, a smart development trick had turned into a full-blown design challenge. Could the team create a game that would just speak for itself, by the way the levels were designed? (Jumping forward for a minute, it took a lot of effort to make the game as self-explanatory as necessary, but I think the team nailed it!)Head over to the site below to read more.
No Text For U Toki Tori 2
Around this time, I was brought in to create a story without a story. Two Tribes wanted to have a better ‘reason’ behind Toki Tori 2, as well as some exciting (and perhaps quirkily funny) events during the game. But they wanted to convey all of it without dialogs, pop-ups, voice-overs or anything like that.
Writing without words: that was a fun challenge for me, too. We kicked ideas around for a while, and ultimately came up with a couple of interactive cut scenes that explain what’s wrong with the island, and why. Well, not everyone may notice everything. But it’s all there!
