The Journeyman Project: Pegasus Prime Trailer Unveiled
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 10 comments

On the 20th anniversary of the release of the original Journeyman Project Presto Studios has unveiled a new teaser trailer for The Journeyman Project: Pegasus Prime. A complete remake of the classic time traveling adventure game, this upcoming new incarnation features content from a rare Director's Cut version of the Journeyman Project. Pegasus Prime will run on modern Intel Macs and Windows PCs.

Presto Studios is proud to present a classic retelling of the best-selling CD-ROM adventure that started it all. Based on the compelling story of the original Journeyman Project, the graphics and gameplay have been completely recrafted to show off the awesome power of the hottest new game technology. Fully-animated motion through eye-popping environments, intensely realistic robot adversaries, and incredible new gameplay sequences are just a few of the substantial improvements.

A complete remake of the first Journeyman Project, this time travel adventure game was initially announced as "The Director's Cut" in development for Apple Pippin, Sony Playstation, and Sega Saturn, which unfortunately did not see wide release in the United States. Now, at last, the unreleased DVD-ROM version of the game is being ported to modern systems.

The Journeyman Project: Pegasus Prime is planned for release early this year. Check out the trailer and learn more at the links below.

Elite: Dangerous Funded, Mac Version A Go
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Frontier Developments' Kickstarter campaign to raise funding for the development of Elite: Dangerous has been successful with a final tally of £1,578,316. The new entry in the classic Elite space action series will also be coming to Macs since the £1.4M stretch goal was also achieved.

Our galaxy. Its an awe inspiring, beautiful, vast place; with billions of star systems, planets, moons and asteroid fields just waiting to be explored, and exploited. The triumverate superpowers of the Empire, Federation and Independents dominate their core system volumes and constantly skirmish to outmaneouver one another on their frontiers. Outside their influence, in the vast majority of the galaxy, anarchy reigns supreme and spectacular discoveries await the bold.

Its dog-eat-dog out there – you need to keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

Whether you want to trade for profit between systems, take part in multiplayer co-op mission alliances, free-for-all group battles and team raids to bring down planetary economies, even tip the balance of power in the galaxy (for your own advantage, of course..), or simply explore the wonders of the galaxy (and who knows what you’ll find out there..) is up to you.

Your second-to-second actions could have you taking the roles of trader, pirate, bounty hunter, leader, team player, opportunistic assassin, grand schemer, and more. You are at the centre of the action any time, any place and any way you choose – each action has a consequence, and influences the galaxy around you.

Starting with a few credits and a basic starship, carve your own path through the richest, largest gaming sandbox ever created, set against a backdrop of raw anarchy, galactic powerplays and intrigue. Do whatever it takes to upgrade your ship’s hull, engines, weapons, defences, cargo hold; constantly improve your capabilities and influence on your journey towards the most coveted rank in the history of gaming - ‘Elite’.

Fight, trade, hunt your way across a giant galaxy of billions of star systems, starting with a basic starship and a few credits. You can make money from trading goods between the many star systems, by destroying pirate ships (and collecting bounty), or even by attacking traders and collecting their cargo (which in turn will get a bounty on your head!). There will be missions too, and exploration. Most people will do some combination of these things. Upgrade your ship and specialise in one activity - have a trader with a huge cargo bay, or use the space for weapons and maneuverability.

Real Freedom - Go where you like, be what you like - pirate, bounty hunter, trader, assassin, or some mix of all of these.

Trade - Buy low, cross dangerous space lanes, evade or destroy pirates en route, then sell high, if you make the journey!

Fight - Take on the pirates or be one yourself

Progress - Get your pilot rating all the way from "Harmless" to "Elite"

Explore - Head out to the far reaches of space and discover amazing sights

And the best part - you can do all this online with your friends, or other "Elite" pilots like yourself, or even alone. The choice is yours...

In "Elite: Dangerous" you fly a spaceship using a first person from-the-cockpit view, building on the elements from the previous games, with sumptious graphics enabled by the performance of modern PCs - all made possible using procedural techniques (see video on 'Procedural Generation' below).

Shadowrun Returns Pre-Orders Begin
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

Harebrained Schemes LLC has announced the beginning of pre-orders for the upcoming Shadowrun Returns RPG. The role playing game will return players to the Shadowrun universe which features a mixture of cyberpunk tech and high fantasy magic.

Since the conclusion of our wildly-successful Kickstarter campaign in April 2012, our little studio’s been hard at work developing the game and we estimate an Early Summer 2013 release. Not a week goes by that we don’t hear from Shadowrun fans who wish they could’ve participated in the Kickstarter last year.

We greatly appreciate the support of the amazing Shadowrun community, so we’re happy to announce that pre-orders for the game are now available. We’ve got 3 flavors to choose from but the Collector’s Edition is only available for a limited time, so act now!

For those of you who don’t know, Shadowrun Returns is set in 2054 and plunges you into a noir story of betrayal and revenge with the control of a dynastic megacorp hanging in the balance. It’s a turn-based isometric role-playing game that allows great tactical control of your character and the shadowrunners you hire. The game will be available for PC, Mac, Linux, iOS tablets, and Android tablets.
