Project Eternity Becomes Most Successful Game Kickstarter
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 13 comments

Obsidian Entertainment's Project Eternity Kickstarter successfully concluded with a final tally of $3,986,929, making it the highest funded video game Kickstarter campaign thus far. Drawing on classics of the genre such as Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment, the game will feature character creation, a party of adventurers, tactical "real time with pause" combat, dungeon exploration, and a storyline the developers promise will be compelling.

Unfortunately this couldn't last for an Eternity, but it was an absolutely incredible run. A profound thanks to all of you - our backers here on Kickstarter and on PayPal, all of our old and new friends from the comments section and our forums, and of course, the Obsidian Order!

Specialbit's Inbetween Lands is now available for download and purchase from Mac Game Store. The adventure puzzler challenges players to find their lost friend Mary and help a group of extraterrestrials find their way home. Inbetween Lands features 50 locations, 19 puzzles to solve, and three game modes.

One day the life of some ordinary city was interrupted by appearance of the flying island, which turned out to be the abandoned homeplace of extraterrestrial civilization. Soon everybody got used to it, and island became the central attraction for tourists and looters. Our main character is an orphan who grew up in the shelter, where she became friends with Mary.

One day Mary came to the dream of our heroine asking for help. The same day our heroine reads the newspaper article about the strange light ray that connected abandoned sky island with the city, and most likely the source of the light was somewhere near the orphanage, where Mary was working then.

Our heroine rides to the orphanage to talk to Mary about her strange dream, but it turns out that she is missing for a couple of days. After that she finds a strange artifact from the flying island in Mary’s belongings. With its help she opens the portal between the city and the island.

The heroine starts looking for Mary on the island. This way leads her to the new discovery – island is a spaceship and all its people live as spirits on it. So our goal is not only to save Mary but to help aliens go back home.

Moral Dilemmas And Multiple Solutions In Wasteland 2
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

In a new blog post InXile Entertainment's Brian Fargo recently
offered new information about the company's upcoming post-apocalyptic Wasteland 2 RPG. The new post details another scenario players may encounter in the game, showcasing multiple possible solutions to problems and potential moral dilemmas.

The rangers come across a man whose wife has been kidnapped by raiders. He asks them to help him get her back, but these raiders bear the Mark of Titan, marking them protected by the Servants of the Mushroom Cloud. If the rangers attack the raiders, they will anger the Servants of the Mushroom Cloud and possibly jeopardize their main mission on the map, but if they don’t rescue the woman, she will be enslaved and endure a fate worse than death. Adding to the dilemma is that without the rangers’ help; her husband is going to get himself killed trying to save her on his own.

The easiest and most loathsome way to deal with the dilemma is to ignore the man and leave the woman to her fate. It’s also easy to go in guns blasting, but that will piss off the Servants and turn the map hostile, putting the Rangers overall mission in jeopardy. It is much more difficult and time consuming to find a middle path, trying to steal her away without the raiders knowing, trying to buy her from them, or stealth killing them all without the servants catching on.
