Feral's Edwin Smith Discusses Empire Total War And More
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Appletell recently posted a new interview with Feral Interactive's Edwin Smith. The executive producer discussed a range of topics including bringing Empire: Total War to Macs, digital distribution, and dealing with delayed release dates.

Appletell: What is it about the Total War series that keeps drawing you to it, as both publishers and gamers?

Smith: As gamers? If you asked the Mac gamers on the Feral Facebook wall what the Total War series means to them, you would there all day! For some, itís all about the 3D battles, others itís the realistic representation of troop movements, and some people are all about the politics. Youíd get the same variety of responses if you asked everyone at Feral Towers.

As publishers, if you are given the opportunity to bring a game that is not only award-winning but also has a huge and loyal following, itís something you grasp with both hands. The game is huge, and very detailed. This means we have had to work really hard testing all the different areas, but itís always worth the effort when we start to see all of the thousands of fans having fun playing the game and leaving positive reviews.

Mists Of Pandaria: Run Your Own Farm, Zone Q&A
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Blizzard Entertainment recently revealed some new information about the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Mists of Pandaria. This time the update takes the form of two new previews: one detailing the new Tillers faction and the farm players will have the chance to run, and the second offering a Q&A with Paul Kubit, quest designer for Valley of the Four Winds.

The Tillers:
Everything begins in Halfhill, one of the main quest hubs in the Valley of the Four Winds. There you will meet Farmer Yoon, a pandaren from the city who recently inherited a farm from his deceased grandfather. Yoon, being quite the city slicker, is struggling to keep his family's legacy in the farmland.
You both will need to gain the respect of the Tillers Union following a quest line that will show you how to prepare the soil, plant the seeds, harvest your goods, and manage your business.

As you progress, you will unlock new daily quests that will help you raise your reputation level with the Tillers faction. At higher levels, you can undertake new quests that let you increase the size of your farm, unlock new seeds, and even buy rewards like mounts, recipes, and vanity items. You can also unlock animals, rustic farm furniture, and even your own mailbox by increasing your friendship level with individual farmers from the area through bonus quests.

Valley of the Four Winds Q&A
Q: What can you tell us about the storylines in the Valley of the Four Winds?

A: Most of the storylines in the Valley of the Four Winds have a smaller, local scope. Youíre traveling from farm to farm, town to town, solving peopleís problems as you go. Thereís no global threat to save the planet from, no shadowy underground cults to dismantle, no ancient evils buried beneath the earth (at least, not that we know of, anyhow). Itís got a lighter theme, which should be a welcome contrast to some of the darker stories you might face elsewhere on the continent.
