The Sims 3: Seasons Announced For 2012 Holidays
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

The Maxis Label of Electronic Arts has announced that The Sims 3: Seasons expansion pack will launch worldwide November 2012. Featuring elements for every season, the latest offering from The Sims Studio introduces all-new activities, seasonal festivals and celebrations, and dramatic weather effects.

“The Sims 3 Seasons offers players not only the opportunity to interact with weather, but also the ability to really get into the mood of each season and tell meaningful stories with their Sims,” said Ryan Vaughan, Producer, The Sims. “Since the launch of The Sims 3, Seasons has been one of the most highly-requested themes by our players. The seasonal changes in this game offer incredible realism, simulating nature in a way that is unprecedented for The Sims.”

For the first time in The Sims PC/Mac franchise, players can take their Sims for a swim in the ocean, exploring a previously unreachable part of the world as they cool down on a hot summer day or take the polar bear plunge by venturing into wintry waters. Sims can also build skills by scoring a winning goal during a soccer shoot-out or catching some air on the half pipe during a snowboarding session.Whether taking a plunge from the diving board, setting off dazzling fireworks, carving a jack-o’-lantern or building an intimate igloo, players will find an abundance of activities to keep them engaged throughout the year.

Players will revel in the spirit of each season with unique seasonal celebrations and events that bring Sims together. Sims can snuggle up with their crush and get crowned the king or queen of the spring dance, visit the face-painting booth at the summer festival, bob for apples beside a pumpkin patch at the fall festival or head to the snowball fight arena for an epic wintertime battle. The Sims 3 Seasons also introduces new food, fashions and décor items such as French fries, a tanning booth, mistletoe, umbrellas, snow boots and wetsuits, further enhancing the experience and fun of each season.

In The Sims 3 Seasons, transformative weather effects will capture the beauty and power of nature, from blooming flowers and fresh spring rain to changing autumn leaves and snowstorms that will turn the world into a winter wonderland. Sims will react to the changes in climate and weather in surprising and hilarious ways, whether getting a zebra-striped tan, catching a cold or getting struck by lightning.

Those who pre-order The Sims 3: Seasons will receive the Limited Edition which includes the exclusive Ice Lounge community lot, a "sleak social club" that can be placed in any world from The Sims 3 and is available in all seasons. This all-new venue includes 12 new objects made entirely of ice that can be used to "build an elegant, icy abode."

Atlantis II Released At MGS
6:00 AM | IMG News | Comment on this story recently added Atlantis II from Anuman Interactive to its growing list of game titles available for purchase. The adventure game allows players to explore the lands of Tibet, China, Yacartan, Ireland, Atlantis, and the mystical land of Shambhala.

A power that came from outer space, represented in Atlantis by the Cube, was offered to the people who were later to become the Atlantides. Thanks to its contribution, this civilization enjoyed a meteoric development.

On the island of Spitzberg, this people divided the power of the Cube into two parts, one light, the other dark. A war then broke out between the partisans of the two camps and the Darkness was conquered and confined to a metal head. All decided that in future they would keep the parts separate. Some, refusing that the head be kept, created a scission. While the majority went to live on the island of Atlantis, the “anti-head” camp preferred to go off in another direction and, after a stopover in Muria to restore the Light half to the Cube, they set up in Shambhala.

Centuries later, on Atlantis, Creon did the unthinkable: he dug up the head and freed the Darkness once again. In Muria, Seth, the hero of Atlantis, took the Light within himself and vanquished the Darkness once more.

Later the people of Shambhala became the guardians of the Darkness. As for the Light, it passed from Seth to one of his children and to many of his descendants. These oblivious bearers were all travelers, vagabonds, searching for something they could not name.

Ideally, the Shambhalans would have liked the two parts of the whole, Light and Darkness, to be joined together. But they have always feared that the Darkness might overcome the Light, so they prefer to keep the two halves far from each other, the Darkness well guarded in Shambhala and the Light hidden and forgotten.

Did the appearance of the Crab Supernova awaken the two halves? Is this a sign? A cause or a consequence? Darkness and Light, each seeks to integrate the other. Which of the two will be dominant?

Atlantis II requires an Intel Mac running Mac OS X 10.4 or later and is available now for $11.99 (USD).

The Music Of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

Kotaku has posted a few sample clips of new music from Overhaul Games' upcoming Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition. The clips feature atmospheric tunes from The Black Pits, one of several new areas players will get to enjoy when the game is released in September.

When Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition was first announced, one of the coolest things about it was the fact that it'll feature an all new adventure, "The Black Pits." And one of the coolest things about that was that it meant we'd be getting new music for the iconic game, music by Mass Effect composer Sam Hulick. The original soundtrack is an RPG classic, so it's neat that it'll get expanded. No pressure, Sam!

Hasbro has approved these three 30-second previews of the new music for general consumption. They're short, I know, but ya work with what ya got. Plus hey, it's not every day we get to hear new music for a 14-year-old game.

Listen to the music at the link below.
