IMG Reviews Nancy Drew: The Tomb Of The Lost Queen
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of Nancy Drew: Tomb of the Lost Queen, one of many adventures in the series from Her Interactive. This time the famous sleuth must uncover the truth about a series of accidents at an archaeological dig. The game features a new interface, enhanced graphics, and two difficulty levels.

Here's an excerpt:

The Lost Queen is full of puzzles to solve, ranging from somewhat simple to pretty complex, although they all generally take a bit of thought. The more complex ones require pulling information from a variety of sources inside the game, organizing and interpreting it, then using the results to solve a puzzle. Challenges generally revolve around ancient Egyptian culture, such as interpreting hieroglyphs, understanding the functions of amulets, the pantheon of ancient Egyptian gods, and other things related to Egyptian tombs. Other puzzles are logic based, figuring out how to move or affect things to get them to do what is needed.

Conquer Online 3 In Development
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

NetDragon has announced development of Conquer Online 3, and launched an official website. The MMORPG sequel will feature a variety of new elements and improvements, including more challenging PVP and PVE battles. As with the previous title the game puts players in a mythical land of ancient Chinese Kung Fu and magic.

Conquer Online 3 is the much anticipated sequel to NetDragon's successful free-to-play MMORPG, Conquer Online 2.0. While preserving many popular features of its predecessor, Conquer Online 3 will also welcome tons of new elements as well as improvements. In Conquer Online 3, the control will be simpler, both the PvP and PvE battle will be more challenging and the balance for classes will be reshaped with each class having their own specialties. At the same time, the controversial Battle Power feature will be eliminated.

In addition to the game system, the graphics of Conquer Online 3 will also be enhanced to a higher level. Holding up to the Chinese hand-painted style, the world of Conquer Online 3 will be portrayed more elaborately to make every detail of the environment vivid. Compared with the current game, the landscape of ancient China is more delicately displayed in a realistic style with mysterious oriental martial arts elements added in. Plus the wealth of colors used in the creation, the world of Conquer Online 3 will definitely become a dream place for gamers to visit when it is open.

In addition to screenshots, Conquer Online 3 has also launched its official website. Although the game is still in development, information and warm-up events will keep coming on the website.

Drox Operative Previewed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

The Adrenaline Vault has posted a new preview of Soldak Entertainment's upcoming starship action RPG, Drox Operative. The game will put players in the role of an elite starship captain and will feature warring alien races, fierce space battles, a dynamic and evolving galaxy, and co-op multiplayer.

The galaxy of Drox Operative isnít just a bunch of experience points and loot to harvest, but a living, breathing thing that will kill you if youíre not careful. Soldak has experimented with dynamic worlds before, and all that experience is at work in Drox. Ignore that quest to kill the giant space monster for too long and he will gather a horde of killer spores to murder your whole planet. Meanwhile, instead of trying to simply advance your character, youíre trying to survive in a dynamic universe filled with alliances and empires. The goal isnít just to win, but to make sure youíre on the winning side before it ends.

Picture from Drox Operative PC previewBut thatís all been done in Soldakís previous games. What Drox does differently is translate the traditional fantasy genre into ship-based space combat. Yes, itís the same system with stats, gear, loot drops and quests, but now itís in the form of ships whizzing around and out-maneuvering each other. You can play entirely with the mouse, or using WASD to control your ship and your mouse to aim your guns. Toss in projectile weapons and mines and you have something that could almost pass for a souped-up 2D Freelancer.
