IMG Interviews Mistborn Creator Brandon Sanderson

Inside Mac Games has posted a new interview with Brandon Sanderson, New York Times bestselling author of the Mistborn novels, about his collaboration with Little Orbit on the upcoming Mistborn: Birthright. Based on the fantasy series, the upcoming action role playing game will feature an original story from the author set hundreds of years before the first novel. Players will take the role of a young nobleman struggling to master his new found magic powers as he battles those seeking to destroy his family.
It is early in the development process, but I am sure you have some intentions as to what you want this game to be. If you could get everything you desire in this project, what type of game would it be? I assume you have played a few games yourself, would it be an RPG like Dragon Age or Two Worlds II, a graphical adventure like Monkey Island or Myst, or will it be more of an FPS like Bioshock?Check out the full interview at the page below.
IMG Interview: Brandon Sanderson
Sanderson: We're definitely shooting for, on this game, Action RPG. A little less like Dragon Age in that it's a solo adventure with one personócertainly there are NPCs and things, but we're not talking about a party; we're talking about a Mistborn doing awesome stuff. That's what I wanted this game to be. There are so many different ways you could take a game like this; I would like to try different aspects.
One of my favorite games recently was Demon Souls, and its sequel Dark Souls. I like gameplay mechanics like that, for a game like this. But we have to mix it with something more like Infamous in its combat system; powers and things like that. A blend of those types of games is what I would be shooting for. Certainly with a stronger RPG element to it.

Telepath Tactics Single Player Campaign Mode Revealed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Sinister Design has posted a new blog article about development on Telepath Tactics, this time revealing a single player campaign mode for the primarily multiplayer title. Set in the world of the Telepath RPG universe, the turn-based multiplayer tactics game will feature support for up to six players in hotseat mode, a new art style, redesigned UI, and a new combat engine.
Iíve focused on bug fixes and adding in a working campaign mode. Now, I know I said in the last update that a campaign mode was not a top priority, but Iíve gotten enough feedback since then demanding a campaign that Iíve decided it would be silly not to put one in the game. This has meant a few weeks away from coding the multiplayer, instead putting in things like a dialog system, cut scene support, and support for custom named characters. I hate to take so much time away from multiplayer, but itís hard to argue with the results.Click on the link below to check out a campaign mode gameplay video and learn more.
Sinister Design Blog: Single Player Campaign Mode
Telepath Tactics needs a thorough in-game tutorial anyway, and as you can see, these single player systems are going to be very very helpful in making that happen.
In the interests of keeping development time down and allowing me to return to finishing up multiplayer, the campaign mode is going to be extremely linear, and probably not all that long. However, Iíve already added single player map support to the Map Editor, meaning that youíll be able to modify or extend the gameís campaign yourself! I am also considering the possibility of adding proper support for multiple custom campaigns to the game. Weíll see how it goes.
