Amanita Design's latest point-and-click adventure is now available for purchase from Macgamestore.com. The game focuses on five unique characters on a mission to save the last seed of their home tree from infestation by evil parasites. To succeed players will have to rely on each of the five character's skills as they travel through the game's more than 150 locations.
Botanicula is a point'n'click exploration game created by the makers of award-winning Machinarium - studio Amanita Design and Czech band DVA. Sword Of Justice Kickstarter Announced

4Flash Interactive recently emailed us about its new Kickstarter campaign to fund Sword of Justice, a World War II RTS in the spirit of Command & Conquer and Sudden Strike. 4Flash is hoping to receive $195,000 in funding for the project.
…Long-long time ago, in a distant land in Central Europe, after the disbandment of EIDOS Hungary, a few of us remained together and decided that we would try and continue to work together on the name of 4Flash. It was then that the idea came to start into bringing to realization one of the innumerable game-ideas. This became the Sword Of Justice RTS game. The aim was nothing less than to rebuild our group through our game. Thus, anybody supporting our project not only helps the completion of the game but reunites and brings into being a new development group. Kickstarter: Sword Of Justice
The project was started two years ago and we would like it to be completed it by Christmas this year. For this to be achieved we considered the Kickstarter to be the best solution for you to finance the project. If we succeed to collect the necessary support then we would prepare the game not only for the Windows but for the iPad, OSX, and Linux as well. Unfortunately there is still a lot of work to be done but we hope that together it will be possible to realize the project. Since this group has no capital reserves we can not achieve this aim other than with your help. This is also helpful since you can express continual opinion concerning it while we will listen to your ideas. Dicework Seeking Funds For Rimelands: Hammer Of Thor

Dicework Games has opened an IndieGoGo page in hopes of funding Mac and Windows PC versions of its Rimelands: Hammer of Thor turn-based steampunk RPG. Originally released for iPhone the desktop version will be an enhanced and "largely remade" version of the iOS release, featuring a new user interface, improved graphics, a rewritten storyline, and a level editor.
About Rimelands: Hammer of Thor:Similar to Kickstarter, IndieGoGo gives individuals the chance to pledge money for the development of various projects.
Rimelands is set in a steampunk world where mankind has recently re-emerged, after a thousand year long ice age, only to discover that magic has returned on Earth, and a mysterious beings called the Fae with it.
You play as Rose Cristo (though you get to change the first name), a young woman raised by her loving grandmother, as she accidentally stumbles onto an adventure that will change her life -- and the lives of those dear to her.
The story of Rimelands: Hammer of Thor is inspired by pulp adventures of old and thus bears more resemblance to Indiana Jones than to Lord of the Rings.
Rimelands: Hammer of Thor is a turn-based roleplaying game with dice-based combat. You and your enemies take turns to perform single actions (similiar to roguelike-games), outcomes of which are determined by rolls of dice, visible on the screen. You also have a limited number of opportunities to re-roll the dice, adding a new layer of tactical decisions to the rolls.
How does the desktop version differ from the mobile one?
First of all, the whole user interface has been remade to work better on larger screens and keyboard-mouse input.
Second, we have updated the game graphically to take advantage of the multiple times better graphic capabilities of the desktop hardware (though it will still work fine even on older computers).
We have also completely rewritten the story of the game, admittedly the weakest point of the original.
Last, but definitely not least, we will also include an easy-to-use level editor with the game, so you can create your own Rimelands adventures.
What? A level editor?
Yes. While it will not be 100% customizable you will be able to make full functioning levels, complete with events and NPCs. The level editor allows WYSIWYG editing of levels, enemies, treasure and visuals (eg. lighting, effects). All the level data is stored in easily readable text format for additional moddability.

Torchlight II Opening Cinematic Revealed

Runic Games has revealed some more information about the upcoming action RPG, Torchlight II. The latest release is the opening cinematic sequence for the game, offering insight into events taking place between the end of the first game and the beginning of the second. In addition to a variety of monster types to slay and items to gather the sequel will introduce cooperative multiplayer action, a new user interface, and random dungeons.

Torchlight II Opening Cinematic
It was really two things that led to the decision to include cinematics in Torchlight II.
One, we simply had the time and budget for it this time around... things that were in short supply for the first game.
Two, we were very aware that the story was an area where we could improve upon Torchlight greatly in a sequel. Like I said, we didn't have a whole lot of time to invest into properly setting up, fleshing out, and delivering a particularly engaging story for the first Torchlight. We had a lot of our backstory and key points mapped out "in our heads" (we have a collective hive mind), and we tried to hint at greater things where we could, but it wasn't necessarily translating into a narrative. We wanted to make sure we addressed that for Torchlight II.
We're still not making a "story game", but I think we do a much greater job for providing context and motivation with Torchlight II.
