Mistborn: Birthright RPG Announced For 2013

Little Orbit has announced it will be bringing Mistborn: Birthright to a variety of platforms, including Mac, in 2013. Based on the best-selling fantasy novels of Brandon Sanderson, the upcoming role playing game will feature an original story from the author set hundreds of years before the first novel. Players will take the role of a young nobleman struggling to master his new found magic powers as he battles those seeking to destroy his family.
Mistborn is set in a dark world of ash, mist, and gothic fantasy creatures, dominated by a seemingly immortal villain known as the Lord Ruler. It also follows individuals who use a powerful rule-based magic system known as Allomancy that allows them to temporarily enhance their physical and mental abilities by ingesting and "burning" flakes of metal. Those who have the ability to burn a single metal are called Mistings, and those who can burn all metals are known as Mistborn. For more information about the game visit the links below.
The upcoming RPG video game will feature an original storyline created by Sanderson, set several hundreds of years before the first Mistborn novel, and will focus on a unique combat system that puts Allomancy into the hands of gamers. Players will suit up as Fendin "Fiddle" Fathvell, an arrogant young nobleman who must quickly master his newfound Allomantic abilities before forces at work can destroy his entire family.
"I'm a huge fan of the series, and I cannot wait to get this into the hands of gamers," said Matthew Scott, CEO of Little Orbit. "Between the distinctive magic system, the story twists Brandon has planned for the game, and the rich depth of character skills, we're creating something very unique for players to enjoy."
Sanderson is no stranger to video games. He recently completed story development on the Infinity Blade II video game including the accompanying Infinity Blade: Awakening novella. In between writing his popular Mistborn and Stormlight novels, he is also finishing work on the final novel in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. Sanderson has been labeled "one of the most popular new fantasy writers to emerge in the last ten years."
"As an avid gamer, I'm extremely excited by this opportunity," said Sanderson. "The chance to write the story for a Mistborn game while working with a team of talented developers is, quite literally, living a dream."

Mists Of Pandaria Q&A

In a new interview with Computers and Video Games, Blizzard Entertainment's COO Paul Sams discussed the upcoming Mists of Pandaria expansion for the company's fantasy MMO, World of Warcraft. The developer covered a variety of topics related to the expansion including attempts to attract new players, Monk martial arts styles, and the future of the franchise.
Can you see room to build on WOW beyond the new expansion? Is there still potential for growth there in say, another expansion?Read more at the page below.
CVG: Mists Of Pandaria Q&A
Absolutely, because I know what the next one is. (laughs) So, that being said, I think there's a lot of opportunity. I got the pitch from Chris Metzen last Friday of what they plan for 6.0 and I'm pretty geeked up about it. They already know what they're going to be doing for multiple expansions ahead. They have an idea - a general framework. They're these lore creators. They're the ones who drive what the world looks like today and what it'll like tomorrow and beyond.
I think the future of World Of Warcraft continues to be bright and I think MOP is going to breath huge life into what I believe is the best MMO out there. I think the number of people we have playing and the level of enthusiasm they have for the game suggests that to be the case. This is the next of many ways in which we're going to grow and improve and evolve this game.

Auditorium Duet Kickstarter Campaign Ending Soon
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Cipher Prime has announced that its Kickstarter campaign to fund the follow up to Auditorium will end on March 30, with funding currently at 80% of the $60,000 goal. As in the original game, players of Auditorium Duet will bend rivers of light and color through puzzles to create music, but this time the focus will be on cooperative play. A single player mode will also be available.
In Auditorium Duet, players will team up with friends for the first time. To solve puzzles, they will need to coordinate with a partner to guide the luminous motes to their proper destinations. Auditorium Duet will be an intense experience where participants must lean on each other’s intuition and skills to create a vividly pulsing colorscape. Auditorium Duet will also include a single player mode which goes above and beyond the first Auditorium.Check out the link to learn more.
Rewards for project supporters at the lower levels include a FREE copy of Cipher Prime’s Fractal for all backers at any level ($1 or more), game solution guides, recognition and thanks in credits, access to regular project update reports and copies of the game. Rewards at higher levels include special exclusive game levels, soundtracks (with accompanying sheet music), framed prints, and more! With contributions that exceed the $60,000 goal, funding will contribute towards additional game improvements – such as creative flourishes, game depth and additional platforms.
