7th Guest Now Available For Modern Macs

Trilobyte Games recently announced the re-release of its classic horror puzzle adventure The 7th Guest. The game has been built for OS X and runs on Snow Leopard and Lion. First released in 1993 on the PC and Mac, the game follows the travails of an amnesiac protagonist struggling to survive in a spooky mansion.
The 7th Guest is an interactive movie puzzle adventure game. It was one of the first computer video games to be released only on CD-ROM. The 7th Guest is a horror story told from the unfolding perspective of the player, as an amnesiac. The game received a great amount of press attention for making live action video clips a core part of its gameplay, for its unprecedented amount of pre- rendered 3D graphics, and for its adult content. In addition, the game was very successful, with over two million copies sold, and is widely-regarded as a killer app that accelerated the sales of CD-ROM drives. Bill Gates called The 7th Guest "the new standard in interactive entertainment."The game is available now for $4.99 (USD).
The game is played by wandering through a mansion, solving logic puzzles and watching videos that further the story. The main antagonist, Henry Stauf, is an ever-present menace, taunting the player with clues, mocking the player as they fail his puzzles ("We'll all be dead by the time you solve this!"), and expressing displeasure when the player succeeds ("Don't think you'll be so lucky next time!").
A moderately complex plot of manipulation and sin is gradually played out, in flashback, by actors through film clips as you progress between rooms by solving 19 puzzles of shifting nature and increasing difficulty.
- Engaging, rich-graphics gameplay
- Stunning, original images look even better on new platforms
- Ghostly, full-motion video and supernatural animated sequences
- Intel Mac
- Mac OS X 10.6 or later

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that beta testing for World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria will soon begin. The company will be offering Annual Pass holders, opt-in beta testers, and others the chance to join the testing over the course of the beta period.
Features of Mists of Pandaria include the introduction of the Pandaren as a playable race, the new martial arts focused Monk class, a level cap increase, and a range of new content to explore.
I am participating in the World of Warcraft Annual Pass promotion; when do I begin testing?Head over to the page below to read more.
Mists Of Pandaria Beta Information
We’re inviting Annual Pass holders in waves over the course of the beta test, and will be ramping up the number of invites we send as quickly as possible. We’ll be inviting Annual Pass holders based on several factors, including how long your World of Warcraft account has been active and when you signed up for the Annual Pass. Keep an eye on your Battle.net account and email for your invite to join the beta test.
Please note that our Customer Service department cannot help with flagging accounts for the beta and is not able to tell you exactly when you will be invited.
How do I opt-in?
Once you’ve set up a Battle.net® account and have attached at least one Blizzard game, you can choose to opt in to our beta tests from the Beta Profile page. You’ll need to select which franchises you’d be interested in helping test, as well as download and run the System Check tool to attach your computer’s specifications to your beta profile. Once that’s complete it’s simply a matter of waiting for an invite. Annual Pass holders do not need to complete the opt-in process or run the System Check tool.

Building The Banner Saga
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Gamasutra recently posted a new interview with Stoic co-founder Alex Thomas about the company's upcoming strategy role playing adventure game, The Banner Saga. Launched as a Kickstarter crowd funded project by three former Bioware developers, the game will combine elements of turn based strategy, role playing, and adventure games. The Banner Saga follows the exploits of a band of vikings.
"Our first priority has always been to make a role-playing game that feels and looks fresh, and plays like the classic tactical strategy games of our childhood, but it's not just about defeating the villain and saving the day. It's not about grinding to get past the next fight," he said. The real trick is making players care about the fiction they interact with.Stoic recently reached and surpassed its funding target, giving the project an official greenlight.
To create that emotional depth, The Banner Saga will present players with numerous decision-focused scenarios, giving them a chance to take ownership of their actions, forge relationships with in-game characters, and otherwise feel like a part of Stoic's grim, fantasy-based world.
"We want the player to care about what happens to the people they travel with because ultimately, you and your kin are all in it together. There's a sense of community missing in games that we're trying to bring to the front of The Banner Saga."
