Honing talents, acquiring crowd approval and showcasing unique skills are just the beginning steps to becoming a mega-star. Sims will also need to navigate the town’s proprietors by auditioning to prove their talents are worthy of the stage. Successful auditions will lead to larger and grander performance venues, where Sims will showcase their skills and ultimately fulfill their fantasies of achieving superstardom.

The Sims 3 Showtime offers more fun for everyone. New to the game is the option for players to fully customize their own performance stages. Fog machines, spotlights and confetti are just a few of the stage props available for players to enhance their Sims’ performance stages. New, extensive areas are ready to explore in the town of Starlight Shores, where players can watch their Sims succeed or epically fail as they transition from one venue to the next. Using new on-stage objects, players are able to further experiment within the performance careers to catapult their Sims to success or bestow the deadly grim reaper upon their fate.

For the first time ever, The Sims 3 introduces connected features into the game. Players will be given the option to log in and connect using their ‘My Page’ account information from www.TheSims3.com. By logging in, players will be able to view their player profile and wall, as well as access various other connected features such as messages to friends, friend requests and an all-new feature, SimPort. The innovative SimPort feature will now enable players to send their Sims on tour to one another’s games. SimPort makes storytelling and sharing experiences with friends simple and fun. The use of SimPort leads to greater rewards, including stamps, simoleans, lifetime happiness and exclusive in-game content.

Dungeonland Announced
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Paradox Interactive has announced Dungeonland, an upcoming cooperative action game scheduled for release sometime this year. In the game players take control of a group of adventurers in their visit to a crazy and dangerous medieval theme park, where they will face off against the Evil Lord Dungeon Master.

The Evil Lord Dungeon Master, tired of seeing his Grand Plan for World Domination™ constantly being thwarted by nosy, big-chinned heroes, is scheming to stop them once and for all!

With the aid of a considerable loan from the Evil Overlord Foundation™, Dungeon Master has laboriously built a nefarious theme park, tempting adventurers with a chance to explore the most dangerous and exotic places, fight the most powerful monsters and possess the most wondrous magical items.

To this most unlikely place, he gave the name… Dungeonland.

Playing as The Rogue, The Warrior or The Mage, players will loot, level up, customize their hero and acquire new skills as they work their way through waves of monsters and traps leading all the way through deadly dungeons. From deadly jungles, to lush magical gardens and a dragon's lair, players will adventure through meticulously crafted themed environments all the way up to the tower of Dungeon Master himself.

Features:

  • Cooperative/single player hack & slash action.
  • Gear – Equip your character with items found in-game or bought with gold.
  • Simultaneous local and online multiplayer
  • Multiplayer with a twist – Dungeon Master Mode.
  • Replayability - Dungeon Master AI randomizes monsters, treasures and dangers each session to create a unique experience; player choice in equipping items creates endless combinations for more variety.

The Showdown Effect Coming This Year
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Paradox Interactive has announced The Showdown Effect, a 2.5D multiplayer action game inspired by 80’s and 90’s action movies "where champions from different eras of time fight to the death, for fun, for glory and for awesome." In the game players will battle for the upper hand using a variety of different weapons. The Showdown Effect will feature a multiplayer mode for up to 8 participants, multiple game modes, numerous heroes, and dynamic environments.

The focus of The Showdown Effect is in recreating the outrageous action found in classic action movies and taking them one step further. Players can pick weaponry from the silver screen's unparallelled arsenal, including shotguns, frying pans, lightsabers, assault rifles, grenades, katanas, gauss guns and anything in between. No explosion is too loud and no bullet dodge is implausible – The Showdown Effect is all about impaling your friend with nearby broomstick and dropping a “Stick around”-taunt as you jetpack heroically off to the next enemy.

Beneath all of this The Showdown Effect is heavily invested in the fundamentals of platforming, providing controls that are responsive and satisfying when it comes to simply running and jumping. Likewise, as a multiplayer game The Showdown Effect will offer all the progressive rewards and unlocks that players have come to love and to cherish.
