The Sims 3: Showtime Behind The Scenes Video Revealed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Electronic Arts has revealed a new behind the scenes video for the upcoming The Sims 3: Showtime expansion pack. The video features singer Katy Perry. The latest expansion pack from The Sims Studio, brought to Mac by TransGaming, allows players to live the rags to riches story with their Sims and share these experiences with their friends. The expansion features new social features such as individual in-game news feeds and live updates.

The Sims 3 Showtime allows players to connect and share with their friends and fellow fans of The Sims without ever leaving the game. Players will venture into a new world and live the dream as singers, acrobats, magicians and DJs. Using the all-new SimPort feature, players can send their Sim into a friend’s game to perform in their world, book gigs in their friends’ town, go on tour, and be reviewed. Along the way, players can earn rewards for achieving goals and accomplishing special challenges that can be tracked and shared via in-game social wall posts. Players have the opportunity to post their Sims’ successes, share gameplay techniques, create wishlists and send gifts, search for new friends and share memories through their in-game news feeds and as e-cards.

Players who enjoy building can customise their Sims’ stages using props and special effects to create unique venues such as a swanky concert hall, a massive stadium or an indie club. How the stage is built will directly influence a player’s Sim’s performance and career progression. For players who love a challenge, they can earn in-game rewards and accomplish goals such as performing a legendary show in a high-level venue. For players who enjoy experimenting, an endless amount of gameplay opportunities and choices within the game provide a vast array of situations for cause-and-effect play and hilarity to ensue.

The Sims 3 Showtime is currently available for pre-order. Those who pre-order now will be automatically upgraded to a special Limited Edition version, which features the Ultimate Stage venue. Players can place this fully customisable venue in their world and will be able to use it as an additional stage for their Sims to perform on, complete with in-game props, backgrounds, lights and special effects. This bonus venue is available through pre-order and while supplies last.

City Of Heroes Producer Discusses Upcoming Changes
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

NCSoft and Paragon Studios have posted a new producer's letter detailing plans for super hero themed MMO, City of Heroes. The letter included discussion of Issue 22, items coming to the Paragon Market, and plans for the future of the MMO.

Issue 22: Death Incarnate has plenty of exciting (or dark, depending on how you look at it) content coming your way from the newly updated Dark Astoria that is now in Incarnate Zone and Trial, to the Drowning in Blood Trial, new missions in Cap au Diable and Steel Canyon, to a bunch of quality of life fixes. That's just the tip of the iceberg and I could regurgitate it for you, but it's all on the website and with far more flowery language than I could produce so I'd like to focus on what is coming up for the game after that. By the way, I want to give a shout out of thanks to the players who have been giving us great feedback on the Beta boards. It's been really helpful, so keep it coming.

I don't want to be too sales-y on this, but since we're talking about the Paragon Market, it's kind of a given. March is going to have some cool stuff so l'll break it down briefly. There's the Flying Disc which is a fun temp power that allows you to, well, toss a disc back and forth. Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, there is a Leprechaun pet that follows you about spreading the luck of the Irish, a rainbow, a few four-leaf clovers, and a nice buff. But I'm sure all you Masterminds are just waiting on the Beast Mastery Power Set, which will include the ability to master the wolves of the wild to enforce your bidding. Finally, we round out the month with the final chapter of the Signature Story Arc in the Who Will Die series. With so many twists and turns so far, what could possibly be left to reveal? You'll see.
There's another Double XP weekend coming up on the weekend of Friday, March 16th, too, so if you've got some characters you want to level up, that's the time to do it.
