Drox Operative: Doomsday Weapons, New Interview
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Soldak Entertainment has published more new information about features in the upcoming Drox Operative starship action RPG. The update this time offers details about doomsday weapons. Drox Operative will put players in the role of an elite starship captain and will feature warring alien races, fierce space battles, a dynamic and evolving galaxy, and co-op multiplayer.

Doomsday Weapons

So how do they work? You use them just like any normal weapon, except they are completely uncontrollable once launched. They will do a massive amount of damage to anyone that is too close. That includes your enemies, your allies, and even your own ship. Everything in a Doomsday Weapon's path is going to be destroyed. You need to be really careful when you let one of these loose.

This sounds way too powerful doesn't it? Well unlike a normal weapon, you can only use a Doomsday Weapon once, they are really rare, and they are extremely expensive if you can find one to buy. You're probably going to want to wait for the right opportunity to use them or when frankly you are really desperate. Oh, and what about all of those empires that are fighting each other for the galaxy? They tend to be quite fearful of those that use Doomsday Weapons, so don't expect many friends afterwards.

A new interview with Soldak's Steven Peeler is also available. In the discussion with GameShark Peeler answered questions about the game's storyline and gameplay elements.
So if you're a lone captain in the galaxy, trying to make money and choosing a winning side, what types of missions will be available to you?

At my last count there were over 300 different dynamic quests in Drox Operative. These can be anything from bringing a planet some non-lethal weapons to quell some civil unrest to destroying pirate ships that are terrorizing the local star system.

The interesting part that I alluded to earlier is that these are completely dynamic. Let me run through an unrest example and how the player might respond: There is some unrest on the Fringe planet Rivek and they ask you to bring them some non-lethal weapons to help quell the problem. Some of the Fringe’s past actions have really bothered you, so you ignore their request. They fail to contain the unrest themselves and no one else helps them either, so the unrest eventually turns into a rebellion and then a full blown civil war. The civil war wrecks havoc on Rivek and the Fringe resort to using chemical weapons. You are appalled at their behavior. Instead of helping them, you deliver some robotic troops to the rebels. With your help the rebels win their civil war, break free of the Fringe, take two of the formerly Fringe planets, and form their

Blizzard Unveils New Diablo III Skills
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Blizzard Entertainment has updated its official Diablo III website with information about new class specific skills for the anticipated action RPG sequel. To showcase some of the skills Blizzard also unveiled videos of the skills in action.

The skills we’re spotlighting are drawn from a variety of classes and levels, and most of them aren't available in the Diablo III beta. We've decided to showcase only "base" skills, unaffected by runes, but their rune variants are no less explosive (there are just a few too many of them to display here).

You can find each skill video we've posted on the appropriate skill page in the Game Guide, or simply click the links below to watch them in action. Keep your eyes on the environments that these demon-slaying displays take place in, too — you'll notice a few unfamiliar, exotic locales.

In the future, we'll release more videos on this blog exhibiting different skills you'll unlock throughout Diablo III. Remain vigilant.
