6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 6 comments

Aspyr Media has announced that THQ's real-time strategy series Company of Heroes will come to Macs in the form of Company of Heroes: Campaign Edition on March 1st, 2012. The Campaign Edition will include the single player campaign from the original Company of Heroes as well as the additional single player campaigns from the Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor expansions.

"We're incredibly pleased to be bringing such a deep and rich real-time strategy experience to the Mac. Company of Heroes is amongst the highest-rated games of all time, and now Mac users will get to play all the single player campaigns from the series from beginning to end," said Michael Rogers, President of Aspyr Media.

Company of Heroes is a WWII real-time strategy game that allows you to join brave men of Able Company in cinematic intensity as they fight across Europe in the greatest war mankind has ever known. Delivering a visceral WWII gaming experience, Company of Heroes redefines real time strategy gaming by bringing the sacrifice of heroic soldiers, war-ravaged environments, and dynamic battlefields to life.

Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts is the second chapter in the groundbreaking real-time strategy franchise allowing players to take command of the tenacious British 2nd Army in the vicious battle for Caen, France, or lead the German Panzer Elite as they struggle to repel the largest airborne invasion in history.

Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor is the third chapter in the franchise. Players will experience three immersive storylines: Controlling German Tiger Tank Ace Hauptmann Voss's highly decorated Tigergruppen against the British 7th Armored Division; Commanding an American Paratrooper Company in the hours following the initial D-Day landings; and Leading the battle-hardened Wehrmacht Army in a desperate attempt to hold off the advancing Allied army.

  • Environmental Strategy - Completely destructible environments allow you to re-shape the battlefield, using buildings and terrain to your advantage, or denying them to the enemy
  • Advanced Squad AI - Command intelligent soldiers that interact with their changing environment, take cover, and execute advanced squad tactics to eliminate all enemy opposition
  • Direct Fire Control – In Tales of Valor® , directly control your units to aim, fire, and maneuver in real-time to capitalize on the changing battle conditions

A new article on the GameAgent Blog offers a guide to finding easter eggs in Aspyr's recently released Rage: Campaign Edition. The post-apocalyptic action game combines elements of racing and shooting titles with a dash of role playing thrown in for good measure. The Campaign Edition also includes bonus equipment from the Anarchy Edition, and the bonus Wasteland Sewers Missions.

RAGE: Campaign Edition for the Mac is chock full of easter eggs from previous games id Software had a hand in, plus a few tips-of-the-hat to some other gaming franchises. In addition to all that there were even couple of pop culture references. Some of these are pretty easy to spot through just regular play but some require a bit more hunting.
