Star Wars: The Old Republic Mac Version In Consideration
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 3 comments

In a recent interview with Massively/Joystiq, BioWare's Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk revealed that the company is considering bringing its recently released MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic to the Mac platform. The story driven MMO lets players choose to take roles as a variety of Star Wars themed classes including Jedi and Sith.

"We know there's a big Mac audience of BioWare fans ... we know that's an important and large audience. And we want to serve that audience," Muzyka told me when asked about a potential Mac version of the his company's latest major release, Star Wars: The Old Republic.

"I'd say 'not yet,'" Zeschuk assured me when I told him that, as a BioWare fan, I'm unable to play The Old Republic on my less than two-year-old MacBook. Though Muzyka was quick to remind me that I can technically play the game on a Windows partition, he also admitted that it wasn't an ideal situation. "We've done a lot of Mac ports before of our games. We haven't announced any details yet for The Old Republic, but we know that's an important and large audience."

Neither would offer a strict timetable on the Mac version, but Zeschuk did note, "That's definitely one of the things we're looking at next. We want to get this launch under our belt and everything stabilized and happy, and then we'll look at other platforms, and that's obviously one of the first ones."

Batman: Arkham Asylum Reviewed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Mac|Life has recently posted a new review of Feral Interactive's Batman: Arkham Asylum. The action adventure game puts players in the role of the caped crusader who is trapped in Arkham Asylum with The Joker and Gotham City's most notorious villains. Mac|Life gave the game a score of 5 out of 5.

From the review:

Despite the impressive number of ways to churn out pain in the game, the combat system is elegantly simplistic, and empowers players to dole out bone-crushing combos and a buffet of knuckle sandwiches like a boss. That said, Batman: Arkham Asylum isn’t all about beat downs—far from it, actually. Stealth and planning make up a large part of the game, and when combined with the amount of action the title affords, the result is some of the most compelling gameplay ever seen on Apple hardware.

From start to finish, Feral Interactive’s port of Batman: Arkham Asylum is a thing of beauty, with moody environments plus clever character design brought to brooding life thanks to excellent voice work.
