IMG Reviews Civilization V: Babylon & Nebuchadnezzar
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of Civilization V: Babylon & Nebuchadnezzar, a civilization pack for the popular Civilization V from Aspyr Media. The Babylonian civ pack features Bowmen, the Wall of Babylon, and a boost to scientific research.
The strategy with this civilization, and it is an early game civ, is to rush writing as a technology. That is where you get the Ingenuity bonus, a Great Scientist. And further Great Scientists at double the normal rate.Check out the full review at the page listed below.

That puts one on the course for perhaps a scientific victory. But there are other early items to take advantage of as well. The Bowmen are one of the strongest premodern units around. +2 ranged combat and defense. That adds up, especially when fighting barbarians. And in the premodern world, the AI is thinking more about itself then attacking you all the time, so it will be quite beneficial.
As will the last differentiation for the Babylonians, the Walls of Babylon, which make your cities stronger. Just let those Barbarians come into range and you surely will see them destroyed. There is also a nice graphic to go with erecting walls around your cities.

Steam Hacked, User Information Accessed

Valve recently alerted users to an intrusion into the forums and a database for its Steam online sales service. A variety of user information including names, passwords, billing addresses, and encrypted credit card information was accessed by the intruders.
Dear Steam Users and Steam Forum Users,For more information follow the links below.
Our Steam forums were defaced on the evening of Sunday, November 6. We began investigating and found that the intrusion goes beyond the Steam forums.
We learned that intruders obtained access to a Steam database in addition to the forums. This database contained information including user names, hashed and salted passwords, game purchases, email addresses, billing addresses and encrypted credit card information. We do not have evidence that encrypted credit card numbers or personally identifying information were taken by the intruders, or that the protection on credit card numbers or passwords was cracked. We are still investigating.
We don't have evidence of credit card misuse at this time. Nonetheless you should watch your credit card activity and statements closely.
While we only know of a few forum accounts that have been compromised, all forum users will be required to change their passwords the next time they login. If you have used your Steam forum password on other accounts you should change those passwords as well.
We do not know of any compromised Steam accounts, so we are not planning to force a change of Steam account passwords (which are separate from forum passwords). However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to change that as well, especially if it is the same as your Steam forum account password.
We will reopen the forums as soon as we can.
I am truly sorry this happened, and I apologize for the inconvenience.
LIMBO Coming To Macs Later This Year

Playdead recently announced work on a Mac version of its puzzle based platforming adventure, LIMBO. The game puts players in the role of a boy on a journey of exploration, uncertain of his sister's fate, or his own. LIMBO features a "hauntingly beautiful" art style, Trial by Death puzzle solving, and unique 2D sidescrolling puzzle solving gameplay.
An Independent Games Festival award-winning title, LIMBO is unique single player 2D Puzzle-Platform/Side-scrolling game. Dreamlike and created entirely in black and white, LIMBO has often been spoken of in terms of game art. Yet while hauntingly beautiful, it is also philosophically provocative. The game features a gameplay mechanic that has come to be known as "Trial by Death" in which the player must die in-game in order to discover the solutions to the puzzles set before him. In the event of this, the player spawns at the last save point and must use what he has learned if he hopes to find his sister and get closure on the events set before him.Playdead plans to release LIMBO for Macs before the end of the year. The Components Of A Drox Operative Spaceship

Soldak Entertainment has published a new blog about features in the upcoming Drox Operative starship action RPG. The post details the categories of spaceship components, including the deadly Doomsday Weapons. Drox Operative will put players in the role of an elite starship captain and will feature warring alien races, fierce space battles, a dynamic and evolving galaxy, and co-op multiplayer.
There is also a special category of consumable items that I would like to mention because they are fun: Doomsday Weapons. You only get one use from a Doomsday Weapon just like normal consumable components, but they have a much bigger impact. There are several different Doomsday Weapons that work in various ways but they all have one thing in common: they are by far the most powerful weapons at their technology level. They are so powerful and dangerous they can destroy your allies or even your own ship. Using them also pisses off all of the races. In other words, handle with care! Some examples are Grey Goo, Planet Killer, and Temporal Rip.Head over to the page below to read more.
