Jurassic Park Coming November 15, Pre-Order Now
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 8 comments

Telltale Games has announced a November 15 release date for Jurassic Park: The Game. Based on the book and movie series, the five part episodic adventure title will drop players into the dangerous environs of Isla Nublar, where they will struggle to survive confrontations with dinosaurs as they seek a way to escape.

Jurassic Park: The Game begins where the Barbasol can left off: The dinosaur embryos that Dennis Nedry attempted to smuggle from the park in the faux Barbasol can remain missing. A mysterious rival corporation brings in Nima, a professional smuggler with intimate knowledge of the park’s island setting, to retrieve the embryos.

When InGen learns of staff stranded on the island after the park’s collapse, they hire a group of mercenaries to launch a rescue operation. The team arrives amidst the chaos of dinosaurs running rampant, and begins to round up survivors committed to protecting the dinosaurs they created. As this group grows, it soon becomes clear that individuals have competing agendas – and the conflict between the humans becomes as dangerous as the rampant dinosaur threats on the island. The group must ultimately survive confrontations with T-Rex, Velociraptors and other dinosaurs in spectacular showdowns as they look for a way out. Along the way, a new mysterious nocturnal dinosaur threat emerges, stalking the group as they work their way across the island in hopes of escape.

Features:

  • An episodic adventure in five parts
  • Set during the events of the first film.
  • Story unfolds through a Steven Spielberg-inspired cinematic adventure crafted to stir mystery and tension while building to exciting climactic peaks.

First Drox Operative Screenshots Revealed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 6 comments

Soldak Entertainment has released the first screenshots of its upcoming sci-fi action RPG, Drox Operative. The new visuals depict some of the ships and weapon effects players may encounter when the game is released. Drox Operative will put players in the role of an elite starship captain and will feature warring alien races, fierce space battles, a dynamic and evolving galaxy, and co-op multiplayer.

Eons ago the Drox ruled the galaxy through their mighty Operatives. These elite starship captains were trained to accomplish the impossible at whatever cost necessary. Whether employing stealth or brute force, they were always deadly. Using these Operatives, the Drox built a starlane system for quick travel amongst the stars, colonized and conquered millions of planets, and ruled the galaxy with an iron grip for over 100,000 years. Eventually realizing their Operatives were a threat, they attempted to assassinate all of them. They failed. The following Galactic Civil War was devastating.

Thousands of years later, the Drox are extinct, but the secretive Drox Operative guild lives on. They have learned their lesson though: loyalty to any one race is foolish. They now work for whoever can pay. And pay they do! Empires might span hundreds of planets and thousands of ships, but when a critical task arises, they still turn to an Operative.

In the new space race, the major races are scouting, colonizing, and expanding, trying to take over the galaxy by diplomacy, technology, war, or any other means their scheming minds can contemplate.

As a Drox Operative it's NOT your job to manage all of those annoying people, build thousands of buildings, play nice with your enemies, or balance the budget. It IS your job to pick the winning side and maybe even help them conquer the galaxy if you're being nice, more importantly though is to rake in as many credits as possible, well that and build the coolest, deadliest ship in the known universe. Not many screw with an Operative captaining a Dreadnaught!

A Tale In The Desert V Draws To A Close, Halloween Fun
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

A Tale in the Desert V is heading into its final month before the launch of the unique MMORPG's version VI. The lead up to the final month will begin with a Welcome Back Weekend and a traditional ATiTD Halloween event featuring the eternal struggle between werewolves and villagers. Now in its fifth incarnation, the Egyptian themed game encourages players to cooperate as they work to solve a variety of puzzles.

We'll kick all of this off with a Welcome Back Weekend and a traditional ATITD Halloween event. The fun will start:

Friday, Oct 28, beginning at 12:00 Noon EST (GMT-0500)

Werewolves in Egypt is a version of the party game known as Werewolf/Mafia/Assassin, adapted to a massively multiplayer environment. We'll play this starting:

Saturday, Oct 29, beginning at 12:00 Noon EST (GMT-0500)

Those that sign up to play (by building a Mortuary Temple) are randomly split into Werewolves and Villagers. The game proceeds in night-day rounds of 15 minutes each. During night rounds, werewolves are active. They may:

  • Sniff a Mortuary Temple to get a fellow player's scent (3x/night)
  • Attack a player who's scent they have already gotten (1x/night)
During day rounds villagers are active. They may:
  • Vote to lynch a suspected werewolf. Villagers get 7 votes per day, and can place them all on one werewolf, or spread them around.
A few Villagers are also Seers. Seers have the ability to tell who is a werewolf, and they may use this special ability 4x/day.

Prizes will be distributed to the winning team - if Villagers win, prizes are based on how many Werewolves each Villager helped lynch. If the Werewolves win, then prizes are based on how many Villagers each Werewolf helped kill. This event is an absolute blast - don't miss it!

We're running a number of other events this weekend as well - check the in-game calendar for Decathlon, Reflection, Tug and other "conflict" contests.

Finally, mark your calendars - A Tale in the Desert VI will begin:

Saturday, December 3, Beginning at 12:00 Noon EST (GMT-0500)
