IMG Reviews Civ V: Cradle Of Civilization Maps Bundle
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of the Cradle of Civilization Maps Bundle for Aspyr's Civilization V. The map packs are Firaxis-designed maps of real-world locations including the Americas, Asia, Mediterranean, and Mesopotamia.

Here's an excerpt:

Syria, the country of Georgia, Pakistan and roughly the state of Virginia. Those were the locations of the world I had the fortune to begin my civilizations from in my recent play through on the four expansion maps from Firaxis and Aspyr Media in their Cradle of Civilization line for Civilization V. These four, Asia, the Americas, Mesopotamia and the Mediterranean provide our real world as the canvas that one paints an empire upon. These are now Downloadable Content (DLC) at $2.99 each to add to the basic game of Civilization, and though they do nothing to change the mechanics of Civ play, they give new worlds for players to conquer. At least when you start as a band of wondering nomads in 4000 BC, the entire planet is really a new world to conquer.

Crewing A Starship In Drox Operative
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

Soldak Entertainment has published a new blog about features in the upcoming Drox Operative starship action RPG. The post details some of the impact crew will have on starship operations. Drox Operative will put players in the role of an elite starship captain and will feature warring alien races, fierce space battles, a dynamic and evolving galaxy, and co-op multiplayer.

First off crew can sometimes be hard to come by. Unlike many things in the game, they can't be sold, bought, traded, or stored anywhere. They will only serve on your ship if you hire them, rescue them, or accomplish some kind of task for them.

They also expect to be treated and paid well. If they get unhappy enough they will refuse to work and eventually will even leave your sorry butt. So how does this work? Well first they expect to be paid every once in a while, so they slowly get upset between payments. They also really don't care for being hurt or killed, imagine that. Each individual is also from one of the races in the game. Do something bad to their race and they are going to get upset. Do something nice for their race and it will make them a bit happier. Actually paying them is the biggest positive contributor to their happiness of course. It is your choice when and how often to pay them.
Follow the link below for a complete list of the positives and negatives associated with crew in Drox Operative.

6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Runesoft has announced the release of updates for three of its older game titles, bringing them up to date with Apple's new Lion OS. Airline Tycoon Deluxe, Ankh and Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood now have patches available to make them compatible with 10.7.

About Airline Tycoon Deluxe
Airline Tycoon Deluxe is a funny economy simulation proceeding in realtime and assigning you the complete responsibility for an airline. However, donít be fooled by the funny comic style or the included jokes: A variety of tasks are requested and your competitors never miss a chance to set a trap for you in order to put a spoke in your wheel.

About Ankh
Egypt. A long, long time ago. After a forbidden party in a pyramid, young Assil gets struck by a horrible death curse. With just a few more hours to live, Assil has to find a way to talk to the only person who can now help him to remove this curse: the mighty pharaoh himself! During his wild adventure, Assil meets many strange and funny characters: the scary crocodile, the god of the underworld... and finally the woman of his dreams.

About Robin Hood
Do not only take on the role of the hero Robin Hood, but also the roles of his faithful vassals and take them to the battle field against the nasty Prince John Lackland. In doing so you are able to enjoy the fabulous English landscape of 1190 as well as the giant castles and funny characters.
The thrilling story is introduced by an award-winning introduction and transfers you directly into the heroís body with the first mission, in which you have to set the captive comrades free. Take up the battle against the oppressors and free the farmers from the Princeís reign! Be smart, be fast! Be Robin Hood!

No Lion Patch For Neverwinter Nights
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 7 comments

Neverwinter Vault has revealed that Macsoft has no plans to release a Lion OS update for the Mac version of Neverwinter Nights. The announcement is unlikely to surprise fans of the fantasy RPG since previous efforts to create a Universal Binary patch for the game never resulted in an update.

Unfortunately a Universal Binary for Neverwinter Nights would require a complete rewrite of the entire game. We do not plan to update the title for OSX Lion
