Hector: Badge Of Carnage Episode 2 Coming This Fall
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Straandlooper Animation has announced the completion of the next episode in the Hector: Badge of Carnage adventure series from Telltale Games. Hector: Badge of Carnage Episode 2 - Senseless Acts of Justice has gone gold and is scheduled to be released this Autumn.

A poor advertisement for law enforcement, and also known as the ‘Fast Arse of the Law’, Detective Inspector Hector is a flawed anti-hero with a taste for sleaze, corruption and lashings of curry sauce.

‘Hector: Badge of Carnage Episode 2 - Senseless Acts of Justice’ sees our anti-hero hunting a psychopath and pulled down a twisted trail of meat, sin, sleaze, and more meat. The new game promises to be even more crude and distasteful than the first in the series. The adventure introduces gamers to a whole host of new environments and colourful characters from the world of Clappers Wreake - the crime-ridden town in the armpit of Great Britain.

‘Hector: Badge of Carnage Episode 2 - Senseless Acts of Justice’ features almost twice the gameplay as the original game as Straandlooper have attempted to create the funniest, crudest and most distasteful point & click adventure game ever. Six screenshots have been released, highlighting Straandlooper’s captivating animation style.

“Hector: Badge of Carnage Episode 1 - We Negotiate with Terrorists’ saw Inspector Hector forced to carry out a terrorist’s demands which involved porn shops, fake drugs and donating to charity. We have made every effort to ensure Hector sinks even deeper into a pit of inappropriateness as the series unfolds” says joint MD of Straandlooper Animation, Richard Morss. “Episode 2 sees Hector really coming into his own as he plumbs new depths in depravity, degradation and political incorrectness.”

Crafting The Storyline For Dragon Age 2
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 3 comments

Gamasutra has posted a new interview with BioWare's David Gaider about the process of writing the storyline for the company's fantasy RPG, Dragon Age 2. The game puts players in the role of Hawke and allows them to craft the story of the legend's rise to power.

"It's an interesting process, approaching the story for a sequel," says Gaider. "There's a certain level of expectation among fans, and especially with a game like Dragon Age: Origins that follows so many different story branches, only so many options we could consider.

"Do we pick one branch and continue the story of the Warden, excluding all others? Do we try to accommodate multiple storylines from the outset? Do we start a new main character with a different story branch? Or do we try something new?"

Gaider and lead designer Mike Laidlaw decided they didn't want to tell the same story with new names and faces. If there was one thing about Origins' writing that was often criticized, it was that the plot followed a predictable Hero's Journey. So they decided to focus more on the "dark" than the "heroic" in their "dark heroic" fantasy sequel, and go for a grimmer, more personal tale.
