6:00 AM | IMG News | Comment on this story

Big Sandwich Games' HOARD has been added to the list of downloadable titles available for purchase from Macgamestore.com. The title puts up to four players in control of powerful dragons hoarding gold, frightening villagers and ransoming princesses.

YOU ARE THE DRAGON:
  • Scare villages!
  • Burn castles!
  • Collect gold and gems!
  • Kidnap princesses!
  • Roast pesky knights!
  • Fend off thieves!
  • Topple giants!
  • Build a hoard of treasure!
  • Compete or cooperate with other dragons in epic multiplayer battles!
  • Your goal is simple, but challenging: build the biggest pile of gold that you can!
Every action you take will have an effect on your score in this "stratecade" game that 1UP observes “hides a surprising layer of complexity and strategy.” To be the best, you'll need to fly deftly, upgrade smartly, and use powerups to your advantage. Most of all, you’ll need to control the kingdom around you: Burn the crops to the ground or let them grow? Keep towns in ruins or let them flourish? In HOARD, the dragon is in charge.

Features:

  • 4 game modes: Treasure Collect, Princess Rush, HOARD (survival), and Co-oP
  • Over 35 unique kingdoms
  • Support for 1-4 players
  • Upgradeable dragons with intense related strategy
  • Deep rewards system with over 100 Steam achievements
  • Leaderboards for global gold-hoarding score competition
  • Charming graphics and bass-thumping soundtrack
Requirements:
  • OS: OSX 10.5.8 or better
  • Processor: Dual Core 2Ghz
  • Memory: 2GB
  • Hard Disk Space: 625 MB
  • Video Card: ATI Radeon X800 XL or better
  • Sound: Supports OpenAL 1.1 or better
  • Additional: Requires OpenGL 2.0 support or better. XBox 360 controller recommended.
  • Multiplayer: Online multiplayer requires Internet Connection.
  • Steam required for activation.
HOARD is available for $9.95 (USD). Learn more at the link below.

StarCraft II Patch 1.3.3 Released
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 2 comments

Blizzard Entertainment has released version 1.3.3 of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. The patch features adjustments to race balance and several bug fixes.

A few of the changes in the update are listed below:

Fixed an issue where Ghosts could not quickly EMP the same location.
Fixed an issue that allowed players to stack air units when issuing a queued stop command before the units reached the end of their patrol point.
Fixed an issue where unplugging your USB headset while another player was talking to you could cause a crash.
Fixed an issue where the APM statistic could be artificially increased.
Fixed an issue where 3D unit portraits were not animating smoothly at slow game speeds.
Fixed an issue where, when viewing a replay, no text message was displayed when a player left a game.
The Taiwanese hotkey to display/hide the game UI while in Observer mode now works correctly.

Help GameAgent Create A Civ V Competition
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Aspyr's GameAgent Blog is asking readers for help with an upcoming game competition for its game of the month, Civilization V. Participants whose suggestions are used will receive a GameAgent Store coupon for 20% off any product. The Civ V competition is currently scheduled to begin on May 16 and continue through May 29.

Of course, one of the problems with the idea is that we’ve never hosted a gameplay competition like this before, and that’s why we’re asking for your help in getting things properly set up! The idea is that we want to set forth some rules and other game parameters to create a standardized match, then let you guys do your best to out-perform each other. While we’ve already got a basic setup, we wanted to get your input on how we could further refine our contest idea to ensure that the game is both fun and fair. Here are the parameters of the game as we see them so far:
  • Leader/Civilization: Any
  • Map: Earth
  • Map size: Small
  • Difficulty: Emperor
  • Game Pace: Standard
  • Victory Conditions: Conquest only
The goal of the contest would be to win in as few turns as possible, using accumulated points as a tie-breaker. To submit an entry, one would leave a comment on the contest blog post, including a screenshot of the completed match. As we’re not utilizing any sophisticated verification or cheating-detection software, the contest would rely heavily on the honor system for all entrants.

Din's Curse: Demon War Reviewed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

GameDwellers.com has posted a new review of Demon War, the expansion for Soldak Entertainment's action RPG, Din's Curse. Demon War expands the number of class combinations to 196, introduces the new Demon Hunter class, and adds a variety of new creatures, quests, environments and modifiers to the main game.

From the review:

The world itself is also up for grabs when it comes to customization. The ability to use flaws- that weaken your character- adds a touch of realism to the world, because as we all know: no one is perfect. Difficulty can be changed from normal to legendary, but such changes can only be met by meeting level requirements.
You can also modify enemies to your will as well. When starting a new game you are given the option to set the difficulty of creatures, whether they are stronger than you, the sheer amount of them, or in my case, I set Layla in the midst of a demon attack right out the gate. Again more realism and why should everything be happy and relaxed when I get there. For combat instances, you can slow down reaction time of enemies. There is a price to pay, however, if you plan on changing that modifier. You will take a small hit to experience points. But the cost can be far less worrisome when learning the ropes and mechanics of the game.
