Blizzard Releases New Diablo III Facebook Screenshots
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Blizzard Entertainment recently revealed more new screenshots and a piece of concept art to celebrate the 900,000 Likes milestone on its official Diablo III Facebook page. The game will allow players to revisit the world of Sanctuary where they must once again take up arms against the demonic forces threatening humanity.

Diablo III will pick up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal have been defeated, but the Worldstone, which once shielded the inhabitants of the world of Sanctuary from the forces of both the High Heavens and the Burning Hells, has been destroyed, and evil once again stirs in Tristram. Playing as a hero from one of five distinct character classes, players will acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the horrors that have arisen.

Diablo III will feature a custom 3D-graphics engine to render lush indoor and outdoor areas of Sanctuary with a high level of detail and vivid special effects. The game’s physics-enhanced environments will be interactive and destructible, offering traps and obstacles that create added danger for players and monsters alike. These elements, along with a new quest system and random scripted events, will be integrated into the game’s random-level generator, giving Diablo III the ultimate combination of dynamic gameplay and replayability. Cooperative and competitive play will be available online through an upgraded version of Blizzard Entertainment’s renowned online gaming service,

Eschalon: Book II Reviewed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Gaming Irresponsibly has published a new review of Basilisk Games' Eschalon: Book II. The RPG sequel includes improvements like re-rendered tiles, new weather effects, new skills, new monsters, and a larger world to explore. Gaming Irresponsibly gave the game a score of 8.5 out of 10.

From the review:

Let’s take a look at what the gameplay actually has to offer. Working off of their success with Eschalon: Book 1, the developers give you a lot of what made the original title so successful. The world you explore is mapped to a tile-based grid, where every square of the grid operates independently of the other. Consequently, these squares will yield different rolls for your character depending on your movement. This was certainly an unexpected layer of depth to encounter, as it makes it more difficult for the player to play the game simply for the action component available. Let me tell you, this game is hard. That’s why it’s very important for you to customize your character appropriately—otherwise you will be unable to slay the plethora of monsters that face you in the game’s numerous dungeons. I had to recreate my character at least three times before I got a working model that could actually show some progress. For some this might be a turn-off, but the game gives you difficulties to choose from so don’t be too discouraged.
