Din's Curse: Demon War Screenshots Released
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Soldak Entertainment has unveiled screenshots for its upcoming Demon War expansion for Din's Curse. The images provide a glimpse of the game and come with descriptions of the creatures and areas depicted. The expansion will include new world changing quests, new world modifiers, new setup options, and the new Demon Hunter class.

The demons of Aleria are furious! After the 4th Great War and necromancer Ciglio's death, the undead horde has been causing utter chaos, attacking everything that moves... even demons. Demonkind were quite happy when Serina, a human city, was overrun, but that was before thousands of human zombies poured into Kraval, slaughtering the huge demon city. Thus began the Demon War. Demons of all kinds are fighting back. They're hunting down and killing any undead they find. Oh, and they blame the humans for this entire mess. For spite, they razed Serina to the ground even though it was already deserted.

As a servant of the mighty Din, it's your responsibility to safeguard humans from danger. This was a hard task before. Do you have what it takes to save humankind from the Demon War?

Inside Mac Games Interviews LEGO Universe Developers
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Inside Mac Games has posted a new interview with NetDevil's Jordan Itkowitz and Erik Urdang about the building block themed MMO, LEGO Universe. In the Q&A the developers answered questions about the game's popularity, childhood LEGO memories, upcoming content additions, and working with TransGaming to bring the game to Mac users.

CK: Are there long time LEGO fans on the development team? Did childhood memories of constructing LEGO toys provide inspiration?

JI: Oh yeah, of course - I’d say everyone on the team is a LEGO fan! We all have fond memories of spreading out with piles of LEGOs on our bedroom floors or at the kitchen table and just coming up with whatever we could imagine. I think if we could all go back in time and whisper in our former 8-year-old selves’ ears that one day all of those spaceships and secret forts and race cars would come to life in this vast LEGO video game universe on some crazy future computer thing called the Interwebs, our little heads would explode.

And that’s what’s really amazing about this game – not only do we give players of all ages the ability to play and adventure together, but then they can build, create and experiment in an all-new way – and bring those creations to life for the entire LEGO Universe to enjoy. That’s a truly remarkable evolution of the classic LEGO experience where you build something and then show it off to your friends and family.

Nate Birkholz Discusses City Of Heroes
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

MMORPG.com has posted a new interview with Paragon Studios' Nate Birkholz, Producer for the comic book themed MMO, City of Heroes. The article covers a variety of topics including limitations of the superhero genre, player response to the good vs. evil dynamic, and the future of the game.

MMORPG.com:Do you find the Superhero genre limiting? In terms of setting, characters, good vs. evil?

Nate Birkholz:The superhero genre is remarkably broad. It incorporates science fiction, horror, fantasy, history, military, action, adventure… Even a little romance and a healthy dose of sex. We’ve told stories about alien invasions, secret societies, unrequited love, magical talismans, Orwellian dystopias, and scientific hubris. We’ve let players become paragons of truth and justice, infamous miscreants, as well as epitomes of fallen virtue or unlikely redemption. We have drawn lines in black and white and filled between those lines in endless shades of gray. So I’d say we haven’t found the limits yet.
