Spiderweb Software Celebrates 15 Years Of Indie Gaming
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 4 comments
Spiderweb Software has announced that October marks the fifteenth anniversary of the indie game developer. Known for long running RPG series such as Avernum and Geneforge, the company recently revealed work has begun on an all new title, Avadon: The Black Fortress. To celebrate the anniversary Spiderweb is offering 25% off the price of its game collections and 10% off the price of everything else.
It was fifteen years ago that fledgling Indie game developer Spiderweb Software released its first game out into the wild. This was, by game industry standards, a long time ago. Back then, small developers sold something called "shareware." The World Wide Web barely existed. People took photographs on "film." Cell phones were the size of loaves of bread. Also, dinosaurs ruled the Earth.Check out the links below to learn more.
Yes, the past millennium was a dark and confusing time. And yet, we prevailed, making many fine Retro fantasy role-playing games for Windows and Macintosh. Now we invite all to celebrate our continued survival by offering hefty discounts on the fruits of our labors. For the whole month of October, all collections of our games are 25% off, and everything else we sell is 10% off. CDs containing three or five deep, full-length RPGs, already sold at a discount, are now even cheaper!
Whether you need a big pile of distractions from the recession and the cold and dark of winter, or you need a nice CD to give as a gift to a gamer friend, or you just like collecting shiny discs, we are eager to help.
And here's hoping for another fifteen years. With any luck, our 30th birthday e-mail will be sent out from inside our Pleasure Pod and will celebrate flying cars and the Cure For Death.
Team Fortress 2 Update Adds Mann-Conomy
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 11 comments
Valve Software recently announced the release of a new update for Team Fortress 2. The game update makes use of the new Steam Wallet feature to allow players to purchase TF2 items from within the game itself. the Mann Co. Store will initally offer 65 new items including five new Class Weapon kits, 18 new hats, and a new way to engage in fights during an existing battle: dueling pistols.
Mann Co., the industry leader in selling products and getting in fights, today announced the deployment of the Mann-Conomy initiative to the warring mercenary factions in the ongoing global war between Builders League United (BLU) and Reliable Excavation Demolition (RED). The Mann-Conomy initiative represents the largest introduction of new items in the company's history, available for immediate trading, use, and sale. For more information about the update follow the links below.
The Mann-Conomy FAQ
"This brutal, endless war between BLU and RED is, of course, lamentable," said C.P. Bidwell, assistant to Mann Co. CEO Saxton Hale. "So if letting mercenaries buy, trade and sell Mann Co. products helps make this ongoing tragedy more enjoyable for both sides, then we've done our part. The Mann-Conomy initiative is, at the end of the day, a humanitarian effort."
The Mann-Conomy initiative will allow BLU and RED mercenaries to finally trade items with each other, escalating hostilities further through emotionally wrenching haggling sessions over hats.
Mercenaries who purchase items through the Mann Co. Store will not have an advantage over their rivals. "We want to make sure that our customers still have a terrific experience on the battlefield whether they buy anything or not," says Bidwell. "All the existing ways they were able to get their hands on weaponry still exist without them having to spend any money."
"Steam", a revolutionary Mann Co. technology developed in cooperation with Newell & Sons (a small Bellevue, WA based company specializing in hat-themed war simulation), utilizes a global network of pneumatic tubes that will allow mercenaries to equip themselves instantly without leaving the heat of battle. Mann Co. is currently accepting Euros, United States Dollars, and British Pounds, as all of these currencies will fit in the tubes.
