CCP has announced a new expansion for all subscribers and trial users of EVE Online. Incursion will feature "the escalating attacks of the deadly Sansha’s Nation which is bent on instituting its own utopia and exacting vengeance against the pilots who stand in its way." Pilots will be able to join public fleets and cooperate to destroy the Sansha incursions and return the universe to normal, receiving wealthy bounties, earning loyalty rewards, and high commendation in return.
EVE Online: Incursion will offer a variety of updates and additions to the game including gameplay improvements, improved pilot portraits, new starships, improved NPC AI, new storyline events, and updates to the EVE Gate social networking platform.
“Incursion marks a point where our PVE experience moves towards the co-operative roots of EVE and the largest introduction of our Carbon Technology platform to date. Never before have so many players and developers contributed to EVE’s living universe”, says Sr. Producer Arnar Gylfason.EVE Online: Incursion is scheduled for a November release. EVE Online®: Incursion will also include many improvements as suggested by the Council of Stellar Management, as well as hardware upgrades, software improvements and new cluster components aimed at increasing game and fleet battle performance to even higher levels.
Further improvements include updating the character creator with CCP’s Carbon character technology for fresh pilot portraits, a Sansha Mothership, Fighter and Bomber, the Noctis salvaging vessel, improvements to NPCs and their AI, new coveted loot and rewards, storyline events, amazing new visuals and a more dynamic and simplified system for Planetary Interaction.
EVEGate, the web-based social networking platform for pilots, sees improvements and additions such as new forums which underline the importance of organizational and communication tools in the virtual world. The expansion enhances the power of individual choice in the context of meaningful relationships with other players—EVE’s true strength—as highlighted in the “Causality” trailer and the classic “Butterfly Effect” trailer.
Heroes Of Kalevala Released
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
MythPeople recently announced the release of Heroes of Kalevala, a new match-3 and village building game. The game offers over 140 levels, eight powerful heroes, dozens of buildings to purchase, and four different environments.
"Our goal was to create a carefully crafted state of the art premium match-3 game with some casual strategy elements in the form of village building.", commented Sampo Töyssy, one of the developers. "Based on the initial response the game should appeal to almost anyone who enjoys playing a well polished game. According to our own play tests, the game should offer at least 8 hours of unique content. Probably it'll take longer for most to play through the levels. As a bonus the game also offers an unique glimpse into some interesting Finnish mythology. And yes, my name originates from Kalevala. It's quite a common name here in Finland as there are around 3000 Sampos here."Heroes of Kalevala requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher and costs $9.95. Follow the link below for more information.
Heroes Of Kalevala
Heroes of Kalevala has two main ingredients: a premium quality match-3 game and a village building meta game. The match-3 game features special blocks like ice, spreading tar, lock bomb puzzles, and 8 different hero tiles. Tar and locked bombs are probably something unique to this game and they've been used to create unique challenges throughout the game. The game has over 140 hand made levels in total. The team wanted to create a state of the art match-3 gaming experience that improves on the great match-3 games of the past and adds a handful of new twists.
In the village building game the player can buy buildings and plants with the coins received from playing the match-3 game. Each villager needs at least one tree that produces happiness to become happy. The amount of happy villagers determines how much bonus coins the player receives after each match-3 level.
Heroes of Kalevala also tells a story of a tribe that arrives into the land of Kalevala and starts to build villages. As the game name suggests, they will meet the mythical Heroes of Kalevala who will aid them in the fight against the evil witch Louhi. The ultimate goal is to acquire a fabled device called Sampo that would produce endless wealth for the villagers. The story aims to immerse the player with hand drawn full screen graphics and voice overs.
