Field Of Glory And Expansions Come To Macs

Slitherine has announced the Mac release of its strategy war game, Field of Glory. Rise of Rome and Storm of Arrows, two "army pack" expansions are also available for the Mac version, and the upcoming Immortal Fire army pack is available for preorder. The game features both single and 2 player action, cross-platform play with Windows players, 141 battle group types, and a comprehensive scenario builder.

Alongside the main game the first 2 army packs, Rise of Rome and Storm of Arrows, are available on the store. Immortal Fire, the third army pack, will see a simultaneous release on PC and Mac on the 15th July and is available for pre-order now.

Field of Glory has been praised as 'accessible', 'accurate', 'satisfying', 'an excellent surprise' and 'a perfect wargame' by a number of press outlets around the world.
Inspired by the tabletop wargaming system, the digital edition of Field of Glory has been a worldwide success, bringing a great deal of innovation to the genre, especially with regards to the introduction of server based PBEM (Play by E-Mail) that makes multi-player accessible and fun and the revolutionary D.A.G. (Digital Army Generator) included in the army packs that allows player to create their own custom armies and battles and challenge other players over the internet.

The Mac version of Field of Glory is fully compatible with PC version, so Mac users can challenge PC users in multiplayer and vice versa.

Puzzle Agent Reviewed

Ars Technica has posted a new review of Telltale Games' latest title, Puzzle Agent. The game challenges players to solve a variety of difficult puzzles as they work to unravel a mystery in the rural town of Scoggins, Minnesota. Ars Technica recommended the game for its story, artwork, and solid design.

From the review:

Puzzle Agent also follows in Professor Layton's footsteps by wrapping its collection of puzzles in an engaging mystery set in a town full of interesting characters. From an overly cheerful hotel clerk to a handyman who hears trees talk, interacting with the inhabitants of Scoggins is never a chore. The dialog is well written and acted, and it's laced with plenty of Telltale's trademark humor.

But it also gets dark at times. In spite of all the jokes and goofy plot points, it's hard to shake the feeling of dread as you play. Something is happening in Scoggins, something the townspeople don't want you to know about. And while things never get too serious, the mystery is an incredible motivating factor, making Puzzle Agent a game that's hard to put down. And since it only lasts a few hours, chances are that many players will get through the entire experience in just one or two sittings.

Where the game does differentiate itself is with its dark, 2D, hand-drawn comic book visuals courtesy of artist Graham Annable. The blacks and grays make Scoggins feel like a truly frigid, isolated town where bad things could very well happen. And though the characters are all relatively simple looking, they're still unique and charming. The stylized art might not be for everyone, but at the very least it gives the game its own look and feel..

Rage E3 Wallpapers Released

Bethesda has posted a collection of new wallpapers showcasing id Software's upcoming game, Rage. The post apocalyptic action title combines elements of racing and shooting titles with a dash of role playing thrown in for good measure. The wallpapers are smaller versions of renderings used for wall displays at the E3 event.

City Of Heroes Developer Q&A Available

Paragon Studios has posted a new Q&A with answers to fan questions about the company's comic book themed MMO, City of Heroes. The game's designers discussed a variety of topics including the upcoming Going Rogue expansion and the recently released Super Booster V: Mutant booster pack.

Q2 “When a character changes his alignment, will he/she be able to use that alignments epic pool powers? such as a Stalker that goes Rogue/Hero can use Scrapper’s Ancillary power sets or a Defender that goes Vigilante/Villain and can earn the Patron power sets?”
WW: All characters will have access to the ancillary power pools for their AT. For ATs without ancillary power pools before I18 the powers are not exactly the same as the existing AT pools, but are very similar. Patron pools require running a patron arc to gain access to them, but once that’s been done once you always have access to the patron pools, even if you go to hero.

Q4 “Can you give us any comparison as to how big Praetoria is compared to what we already have with City of Heroes/Villains?”
WW: Nova Praetoria is about one and a half times larger than Atlas Park. I think Praetoria appears larger because there are no war walls to "close it in". The way we've seamlessly tied the visuals from one zone to another also gives Praetoria a really large scope. And that’s just the zones you’ve seen so far.
