6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Coladia has announced that Cleopatra: a Queen's Destiny is now available for Mac OS X. The Point & Click adventure game takes place in Alexandria, Egypt, 48 BC during the time of the famous queen. The game features a variety of well known sites in ancient Egypt as well as puzzles and enigmas drawn from Egyptian culture and science.

The country is divided by civil war pitting Cleopatra's supporters against those of her brother and husband, Ptolemy, who is ravaging the country. In this climate of terror, Thomas, a young apprentice to Akkod, Cleopatra's astrologist and astronomist, falls in love with his master's daughter. One day, in horror, he discovers that both master and daughter have been kidnapped.

Thomas sets out on their trail and learns in the course of his investigations that Cleopatra herself had asked Akkod to make a specific divination, and that the partisan of Ptolemy are behind the kidnapping. Cleopatra promises Thomas that in exchange for the tablets required for the divination, her guards will find the master and his daughter.

Thomas's investigations lead him to the discovery of Egypt's legendary sites such as the Library of Alexandria and the Lighthouse. Thomas also meets the Queens and a whole host of their mysterious characters. Will he manage to save his master and his loved one, so that together they can decypher the stars? Without the prophecy, the country will be lost; the destiny of Egypt and its Queen are in his hands.

IMG Reviews Brainpipe

Inside Mac Games has posted a review of the latest game from Digital Eel, Brainpipe: A Plunge to Unhumanity. Brainpipe is a psychedelic ride through you psyche as you attempt to collect points and avoid obstacles. Here's and excerpt from the review:

Your obstacles are glowing green poles jutting out from walls, pink spheres that circle the tube you’re in, and yellow grids that look not unlike your reticule. There are yellowish energy worms and more, all abstracted in a sort of Tron or cyberpunk fashion. As you go, you collect glowing glyphs which serve some purpose that I’m not too clear on. I assume they give you points (your score is earned simply by advancing through the tunnels), but that’s just a theory. In each level there is a larger glyph that, when obtained, will inform you that you have achieved some state of consciousness, such as confusion.

Kivi's Underworld: New Monsters Revealed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Soldak Entertainment has added three new entries to the bestiary for Kivi's Underworld, the company's upcoming action RPG title. Described as a casual hack and slash game, Kivi allows players to adventure as one of 20 character classes against a variety of dangerous foes. The bestiary expands with entries for the Scavenger, Orc Warrior, and Orc Shaman.

Orc Warrior
When a necromancer tried to raise elves that weren’t quiet dead using a powerful and tricky ring, the magic was perverted. Instead of elven zombies, the necromancer ended up with orcs. They ripped the necromancer to pieces before drifting east to the mountains.
Orcs have violent and unpredictable temperaments, and their success in war usually relies on overwhelming the enemy. They are generally too disorganized to cause trouble outside of their usual territories.
