IMG Interview: Worldwide Biggies' Blaine Graboyes
Blaine: Yes! This is one of the key ideas we had in mind while producing the game. Casual games seemed like a great space too, since parents could enjoy the game for themselves but also share the game with their children. In our playtesting, kids, tweens and teens loved the game so we knew we were on track in making something the whole family would love. That is the essence of The Princess Bride, that everyone can enjoy the story and characters on different levels – from kids to adults and all around the world.

IMG Previews Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Inside Mac Games has posted a preview of the upcoming shooter from Aspyr and Infinity Ward, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. COD4 is the latest sequel in the well known Call of Duty series, and the first to be set in an era other than World War II. Here is a excerpt from the preview:
Weapons in the game are also very realistic. The enemy is generally armed with AK-47s, since these are some of the easiest to obtain weapons in the world, while you as part of the modern military will have access to a range of modern weaponry, such as the MP5SD submachine gun, the M4A1 carbine fitted with the M203 grenade launcher, and the devastating FGM-148 Javelin portable anti-tank guided missile. The weapons are modeled with a high level of detail. During gameplay, they expend ammo just like their real-world counterparts, forcing you to conserve ammo, watch your shots, and scavenge for ammo and weapons from fallen comrades and enemies alike.Follow the link below to read the full preview, and stay with IMG for a full review of the game after its release.

StarCraft II: 15 Minutes With The Zerg
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 2 comments
Kotaku has posted a hands-on preview of Zerg combat in Blizzard Entertainment's upcoming StarCraft II. The article is based on 15 minutes of play time with the game at the recent Leipzig Game Convention. StarCraft II will return players to the storyline several years after the conclusion of Brood War, and feature all new multiplayer mayhem for fans to enjoy.
What was kind of surprising was how far one had to progress to whip up a couple Hydralisks and make them useful. The unit had always felt a little overpowered in the original StarCraft, but Blizzard looks to be limiting their effectiveness by way of high cost, long tech progression and a more widely spread tech tree.Check out the full preview at the link below.
In fact, the entire tech tree feels that way, as upgrades for units are peppered throughout a wider range of structures and building upgrades. It's all going to take some time getting used to, as the Zerg felt much more straightforward in their previous incarnation.

Apple Games has posted a new feature article examining D2C Games' Chalkboard Sports Baseball for Apple's iPod. Developed exclusively for the iPod and its click wheel interface, the game features six ballparks, day and night games, personalized teams, and intelligent computer opponents. Apple Games' article includes an overview of the game's features as well as details on the included teams.
After the thrilling victory, you view your final point tally, which is based not only on your success at the plate and on the mound but also on your ability to hit outfield targets, such as bulls-eyes, a glove, a baseball, and other objects scattered throughout the game’s six ballparks. The stadiums are home to six teams each comprised of five SPOGS (Sports Player Object Gyros), unique circular athletes whose six feet propel them around the bases at top speed.Head over to the link posted below to read the rest of the article.

You can also create unique SPOGS and populate your own teams with them, developing prospects for Chalkboard Sports Baseball’s playoff mode, in which you guide one club through two best-of-three series before tackling the championship game. You can even stick your face, or any other image, on your custom SPOGS with D2C’s FaceMaker, which lets you quickly crop a picture and save it to the proper folder, where iTunes adds it to the game the next time you sync your iPod.
Success in playoff mode allows you to unlock three new pitches — change-up, screwball, and splitter — with which you’ll confound your opponents. Just make sure you mix up your pitches while facing each batter, because the game features I-Think AI, which lets computer-controlled players make smart decisions in the heat of the moment. A practice mode lets you get ready for the big game, while quick play gives you a chance to easily try out your strategies with a brief three-inning contest.

Eschalon Book II: Gender Differences In Character Creation

Basilisk Games continues work on Eschalon: Book II, the second in its "old school" RPG series which hearkens back to computer role playing games of yesteryear. A recent post on the official forums reveals that, in keeping with the old school theme, the game will offer different bonuses for male and female characters. Unlike the first game in the series Book II will allow players to create either a male or female protagonist.
MALE:Read more at the link below about the reasoning behind the decision to include gender differences in the game.
Basilisk Forum: Gender Differences In Book II
While exceptions do exist, males are generally larger than females. With greater body mass, males on average tend to possess higher maximum strength than females. Selecting to play a male character grants you a +1 Strength bonus.
Females tend to be of smaller build than males. With less body mass and a slighter frame, females are often more nimble and graceful than males, resulting in a +1 Dexterity bonus.
