IMG Previews Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties
10:59 AM | Marcus Albers | Comment on this story

Inside Mac Games has posted a preview of the new Age of Empires III expansion, The Asian Empires from publisher MacSoft. Here's a clip from the preview:

Back in the not too distant day, I did the Warchiefs review here at IMG. Warchiefs was an interesting expansion pack. While it did add new factions to play, the European powers had to have some tweaking to balance gameplay out. Not so in The Asian Dynasties. In fact, the early game seems biased slightly against the European powers, but not so horribly that it’s not fun to play the Europeans anymore. Reading between the lines here, there’s nothing in this expansion that changes how the European powers play. This isn’t a problem, I don’t think, as the variety of the new powers offsets that. Playing an Asian power is different than playing a Native power which is different than playing a European power. This is how it should be.

6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Ankama recently made several new screenshots available for Wakfu, an upcoming tactical MMORPG from the creators of Dofus. Taking place in the same world of the flash based Dofus, although far in the future from the events of the original game, Wakfu will feature a cartoon based visual style and an environment which responds to player actions.

The story of Wakfu takes place a long time after that of DOFUS. An ogre named Ogrest gathered all the six Dofus and gained boundless powers. The ogre offered his beloved the dragon eggs. But she turned down the present though worthy of the gods themselves, and Ogrest started shedding tears of rage and pique. The tears of the ogre made the ocean level increase so much that parts of the World are now submerged to the inhabitants' great displeasure. Now gods and heroes of the World are starting a new adventure before reaching Ogrest and confront him in an ultimate fight!

Privateering Comes To Pirates Of The Caribbean Online
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

New content is available for Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean Online. Now players can gain "pirate licenses" and engage in privateering on the high seas, taking part in new quests and gaining gold, reputation, and even special tattoos. The new content also includes an enhanced crew interface.

Disney Online has added Privateering to Pirates of the Caribbean Online! Players must side with the Frenchman Pierre by setting sail from the privateering port of Ile D’Etable De Porc – or side with the Spaniard Garcia by departing from Isla De La Avaricia. Then, with a “private license” in hand and able crew in tow, players can set off for some pillaging and plundering on the high seas!

Both Basic and Unlimited Access players can engage in Privateering. Pirate "Lords" on both islands will additionally challenge players with quests that, upon completion, will gain players gold and reputation points - not to mention a special Spanish or French tattoo! For background information on Privateering, players can check out the new Lore Journal “The Rise of the Privateer,” on the game’s website.

In addition to Privateering, Disney Online has made a number of enhancements to the Crew Interface, making it easier for players to gauge their Crewmember’s health, bonuses, and overall status.
Pirates of the Caribbean Online is rated E10+ and is available for both Mac and Windows systems. Check out the links below for more information.
