Star Wars: Empire At War Demo Released

Aspyr Media has released a demo of Star Wars: Empire At War. Set a few years before the events of Episode IV: A New Hope, Aspyr’ Empire at War lets players wage war on the ground and in space, as well as experience the creation of the Rebel Alliance, the strengthening of the Empire and the beginnings of the Galactic Civil War.
The demo, which weighs in at 896 MB is being hosted at our sister site, Macgamefiles.com. The demo contains 5 tutorial levels and gives you a chance to play one galactic conquest map.
The system requirements are as follows:
• Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later
• CPU Processor: Intel Chipset
• CPU Speed: 1.83 GHz
• Memory: 512 MB or higher
• Video Card (ATI): Radeon X1600
• Video Card (NVidia): Geforce 7300
• Video Chipset (Intel): GMA 950
• Video Memory (VRam)
Please note that the demo (and full version of the game, once released) will not work on PowerPC-based Macs.

Macworld's Game Room has posted a review of Frenzic, an addictive new puzzle title from The Icon Factory and Artis Software. The game challenges players to fill circles with colorful wedge shapes in a battle against the clock. The Game Room gave Frenzic a score of 3.5 out of 5 mice.
From the review:
Frenzic’s game board comprises six circles spread around a center circle. Colored pie pieces, one sixth the diameter of each circle (looking a bit like Trivial Pursuit pieces), appear in the center circle, and you place them in a corresponding open slot in an outer circle to earn points. The goal is to complete each pie using as few colors as possible—the fewer colors, the more points. You’ll get points for laying down pie pieces; you’ll get more for completing pies.Read the full review at the link below.
Macworld Game Room: Frenzic Review
If you manage to finish a complete pie using only one color, you’ll get an extra life. And believe me, you’ll need it. Because once you get going, the action ramps up fast—you have to place a piece in a limited amount of time, and that time grows shorter the more you play. If the time bar goes all the way to the red, you lose a life. One of the great challenges of Frenzic is finding a home for all your pieces. Since you can’t rotate the pieces that show up, you have only six possible spots for each piece on the game board. It makes you think twice about whether you want to try to complete each circle using only one color. In many cases, it’s either mix up colors or die.

In a post on the Spiderweb Software forums Jeff Vogel recently detailed some of the changes and additions fans can expect from the upcoming fifth game in the popular Avernum RPG series. Still in early development A5 will offer an elaborate plot and a variety of improvements to gameplay.

ii. There is now a system of battle disciplines. People with high combat skills will be able to use special abilities. Some of them are cool enough that some mages will be tempted to train in pole weapons.
iii. I have vastly expanded the keyboard shortcuts. You will now be able to target attacks and spells using only the keyboard. (This includes fireballs.)
iv. The plot is very elaborate and cool. I tried for a similar level of intricacy as Geneforge 4: Rebellion.
v. I have also borrowed the much less annoying action point system from Geneforge 4. And a ton of the nice graphical effects too.
vi. The most irritating thing left to be done engine-wise is boats. There will be a lot of water travel.
vii. The Anama are back. Solberg has a decently sized role. Rentar-Ihrno is still dead.
