PureStatic, iDevGames' preferred on demand high volume file hosting partner, will be offering the six top finalists free hosting time in the following increments: 1st place – 1 year, 2nd place – 10 months, 3rd place – 8 months, 4th place – 6 months, 5th place – 4 months, 6th place – 60 days.

“The developers who participate in our contests produce some of the best original Mac games for our platform and are the key to the future of Mac gaming. IMG Feature: The MMO Lull
12:17 PM | Tuncer Deniz | 7 comments

IMG has posted a new feature entitled, The MMO Lull by Ryan Fritsch. Here's a clip from the feature:

Looking back over my play of MMOs from the last couple of years, what hasn't killed my interest in a particular MMO are the things traditionally discussed as flaws in the genre. "The grind" can be fun and relaxing; repetitive gameplay can be mitigated by rare and unique loot drops; ugly graphics are often forgivable as "style;" and the morons who inhabit the server are half the fun (or, at the very least, we've all been the moron once or twice). Instead, what has always killed my interest in an MMO is "the Lull."

Hyboreal Games Formed
7:49 AM | Cord Kruse | 4 comments

Yet another new game company has arisen from the creative minds of former Blizzard employees. Hyboreal Games was recently founded by several veterans of the Diablo 1 and 2 team. Gamecloud had the chance to interview Hyboreal's co-founder Eric Sexton about the new company and its first title Starfall.

Gamecloud - Other than the title of your first game, Starfall and some sci-fi looking artwork, the company has revealed little about your first game. Can you give us any more hints about what Starfall will be about?

Eric Sexton - Starfall is a 3D, Science-Fiction, Action RPG. It's Halo meets Diablo with all the fast visceral game play of third person shooter merged with the character advancement and item collection of a role playing game. You can explore the planets of the Starfall galaxy, customize your space ship and choose the path of your character while deciding the fate of the galaxy.

Although Starfall is still in the conceptual stages Sexton's comments may offer hope to Mac gamers curious about the possibility of a version compatible with their favorite platform.
Gamecloud - What platforms will your first game show up on?

Eric Sexton - We are a PC game developer, but we will be negotiating with publishers and 3rd party developers to carry our game to other platforms.

Gamecloud - What are the company founder's current opinions on the state of the video/PC game industry? Is it healthy or are there problems that need to be addressed?

Eric Sexton - The game industry has been focused on Next Generation Consoles to the detriment of the PC games. We will be focusing on the rich and largely untapped PC market.
