The Mac Gamephiles Becomes iGame Radio
10:25 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story

On Monday, June 20, 2005, Omaha Sternberg, host of The Mac Gamephiles, announced a name change for her Internet radio show. The new name is iGame Radio. Shortly after announcing the name The Mac Gamephiles on the debut broadcast for the show on June 6, 2005, response from some fans led Omaha Sternberg to realize that the name might cause conflict between the radio show name and the name of the popular website macgamefiles.com.

"The last thing we want is to dilute someone else's trademark," said Ms. Sternberg, "and we certainly wouldn't want fans to end up mistyping the name of the show and go to a different site while searching for us."

After holding a name poll on the radio show's webpage for a week, Ms. Sternberg announced the result on her show on June 20, which can be heard at http://www.macradio.com/shows/igameradio/

iGame Radio can be heard live on MacRadio from 6 to 7:30 pm Pacific Time, 9 to 10:30 pm Eastern (Tuesday from 0200 to 0330 UTC), and on demand thereafter. Listeners can tune in at iGame Radio web page , where they'll also find archives of past broadcasts. QuickTime 5 or 6 and a 28 kbps or faster Internet connection are required.

Aspyr To Eliminate Preliminary System Requirements
11:06 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story

Aspyr Media today announced they plan to no longer announce preliminary system requirements for games under development. On all future projects, only final system requirements will be given once testing of those requirements is complete - typically 4-6 weeks before the game ships.

There is often a delay in the time it takes various online distributors to update a title's preliminary requirements to its final system requirements. In an effort to better control the specific requirements displayed for each title, Aspyr will make a formal announcement to the press as soon as a title's development allows for a confident declaration of the hardware necessary for optimal gameplay performance.
Aspyr's game utility for Mac, Game Agent, will have the most up-to-date information on final system requirements for all released games and those
still under development. Game Agent is available for download from Macgamefiles.com.

Star Wars Battlefront II Previewed
10:25 AM | Franklin Pride | Comment on this story

Pro-g.co.uk has posted a preview for Star Wars Battlefront II.
The preview covers the tweaks made to ship vs. ship battles and the additions from the last Battlefront. Most notably, if you meet certain criteria, you will be able to play as a jedi hero.

Anybody who has seen trailers for the game may well have seen one of these maps; one which sees capital ships kicking-ass, and players buzzing around in Tie-fighters, X-Wings and other classic ships. Having played that level, I can safely say that space combat feels better this time around, although, this admittedly is only based on one map. Hopefully this will be addressed on other maps too.

WoW Development Page Updated
10:25 AM | Franklin Pride | Comment on this story

Blizzard has updated its development page for World of Warcraft. The page features upcoming additions to the honor system, class changes, and the addition of female spybots in Stormwind and nearby territories. (Maybe)

The changes include:

Battlemasters: These NPCs offer a new way to enter the battleground queues. Located in some of the cities, right-clicking on a battlemaster will allow your character to enter a battleground queue.

There is now a progress bar on the Honor tab of your character window that displays how close a player is to their next rank.

There is a new "This Week" section of the Honor tab, which will display PvP accomplishments of the current week.

To view the complete list of future additions and changes, visit the links section.
