Ambrosia Updates Aki Mahjong Solitaire 10:17 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story
Ambrosia Software recently announced the release of Aki Mahjong Solitaire 1.1.1 for Mac OS X. The new version adds Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger compatibility, fixes a problem when the english version was run on a japanese system, and has been compiled in Xcode 2 with the latest Ambrosia libraries. Aki is easy to learn even if you still haven't mastered chopsticks, so don't hesitate to dive right in. We think you'll soon find yourself captivated. The principle of Aki is simple: you have a number of ivory tiles arranged on a beautiful Japanese backdrop. Your goal is to make all of the tiles disappear by matching them to similar tiles while you have the uncompromising ticking of the time limit to contend with. Sound easy? Try Aki now, and you'll realise... it isn't. Aki Mahjong Soltaire 1.1.1 can be downloaded from Macgamefiles.com.

Freeverse Updates Kill Monty 1:30 PM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story
Freeverse has released the latest version of Kill Monty, a fast-paced arcade shooter in the tradition of classic arcade game such as Smash TV. The game's premise is pretty simple: shoot anything that moves. Here's what's been fixed in 1.0.3: Added Tron-like zombie, and changed the names in the options screen. Picking up another gun while you have the death ray no longer cancels the deathray. It will however change the gun you revert to after you run out of ammo. Moved character/level select to its own subscreen in options, uncluttering the normal options screen (to make room for more normal options) and also to make room for more unlockable levels later on. Added the option for the large crosshair. Made the floor reflect alpha to allow for a transparent floor, and extended the walls below the floor. Mines are changed to be a bonus weapon now. Each pickup gives an additional 25 mines. To download Kill Monty, head over to Macgamefiles.com.

World of Warcraft In China 10:17 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story
Azzor's World of Warcraft site has posted an interesting feature on the China branch of the MMORPG World of Warcraft. Handled by a local company called 9city Interactive, China's WoW boasts over 2 million accounts, 96 servers, and queues that reportedly exceed over a 1000 players. The feature also takes a look at the MMORPG market in China in general, noting successful titles that Western gamers have probably never heard of before: The Chinese market is dominated by Legend of Mir II (or Legend2 for short). A historical mythical battle adventure MMORPG, Legend2 is "virtual China". Averaging 600,000 concurrent users online (and sometimes more than a million), the game has dominated the Chinese MMORPG scene for the last three years. Legend2 now has over 20 million subscribers, and has been able to trounce all would-be competitors who have attempted to overthrow its top rung as a Chinese MMORPG. Other topics include speculation on WoW's success probability in China, differences in the Chinese version, and marketing strategies.
