Macologist Posts MSU Movie Winners
7:41 AM | Ben Edwards | Comment on this story

Mac gaming specialists Macologist have posted a Mac compatible launcher for the real time video winners of the Make Something Unreal contest. Besides the game winners--lead by the Red Orchestra mod--Epic also awarded winners in the "non-interactive" category, which up till now weren't playable on the Mac.

Here's a brief description of the installer:

This installer will save Mac users considerable trouble because the movie playback function is not enabled in the Community Mods Menu for Mac UT2004, as well as the fact that some downloads were difficult to find, in Win32 .exe distros only, or required special commandline tweaks. Most Mac users probably wouldn't bother, so this installer should open up these movies to a lot of people. Note the fifth place film was the intro sequence to the Damnation mod, so was not included. Enjoy!
The launcher file for the movies is 217 MB, so it's not for the faint of bandwidth. For more information and links to the movie files, please check out the Macologist website.

Custer is Hording Desktops
7:41 AM | Brad Custer | Comment on this story

Brad Custer has once again blessed us with a new game-related desktop. This week's image features WorId of Warcraft, Blizzard's immensely popular MMORPG.

Here's more from Brad on the subject:

Since my last venture into the realm of World of Warcraft I have received several emails asking me to feature the Horde. Of course I am more than happy to honor all requests especially for a game as popular as this one. I've always been partial to the big green guys so they seemed to be the natural choice for this week's creation.
