Aspyr Cancels Men of Valor
10:19 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story

Aspyr Media this morning announced that they have cancelled the Vietnam-inspired first person shooter, 2015's Men of Valor. Aspyr said the decision was made "to remove the title from Aspyr's calendar as a result of several different factors and much deliberation." Aspyr went on to say that the company "remains dedicated tocontinuing to bring high-quality games to Mac users and apologizes for the change of plans."

Men of Valor for the Mac was announced back in October of 2004 and reached First Playable in early December. Ryan Gordon, who ported Unreal Tournament and Postal 2 to the Mac, was working on the Men of Valor port before its cancellation.

As a result of the cancellation, all existing pre-order made through the IMG Store will be deleted.

Inside Mac Games has posted a hands-on preview of <>B>Command & Conquer: Generals: Zero Hour, the upcoming expansion pack for the popular real-time strategy game. The new expansion pack, due later this month, features 30 new units, 15 single player levels and much more.

Command & Conquer Generals is already a massive real-time strategy (RTS) game, but Zero Hour will take things to the next level. Zero Hour is all about upgrades, giving players a host of new strategic options. There are new tanks, troops, bombs, technologies and even "lasers". That's right, I said, "lasers". Close Combat: First to Fight Q&A
9:22 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story

The PR machine is up and running, and as Close Combat: First to Fight moves closer to release, more coverage seems to pop up. The latest comes from PC Game News, which has conducted an interview with PR and Community Manager Steven Charbonneau.

As covered in previous articles, Close Combat centers around a 4-man fire team of Marines, and aims to simulate the accuracy of such a team's movement and reactions as closely as possible. While each team member's role will be unique, a variety of weapons will be made available for players:

You will have access to the M16-A4 with an M203 grenade launcher, the M249 SAW, M1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol, M-40A3 Sniper rifle, AN-M8 HC Smoke Grenade, M-67 Fragmentation Grenades, as well as the AK74, RPK-74, and Dragunov SVD Sniper rifle.
In addition, players will have access to support, such as mortars, tanks, and gunships when the situation allows. Other topics discussed in the interview include camera angles, attack coordination, and ways a player can fail, including the shooting of surrendered enemies and civilians.

In other news, a movie of Close Combat in action can be found at FileShack. About a minute in length, the movie is sized at 4.44MB and shows off some of the gameplay of this title.

Close Combat: First to Fight is currently scheduled for a March release.

Project Torland Brings Halo to UT
9:22 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story

Project Torlan has recently released version 1.75 of their HaloUT pack. A Total Conversion mod, HaloUT's aim is to replicate as much content from the original Halo as possible for use on the Unreal Tournament 2004 engine, including maps, vehicles, characters, and so forth.

We believe (and we're not pointing any fingers) that HaloPC was not as good a port of the original Xbox title as it could've been. Unreal's engine provides vastly superior graphics performance, visual quality, gameplay variety, modding capabilities, and most importantly, better net code. We believe that the same classic Halo played in the Unreal engine will make for a better experience overall. And so far, this has proven true.
The latest pack includes new vehicles, models, voicepacks, and a host of bug fixes. Those interested in trying it out have a number of download options from the Project Torlan page, including direct downloads and bittorrents.
