Battlefield 1942 MP Demo Coming Soon 8:49 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story
A long-awaited multiplayer demo of Battlefield 1942 is due out sometime tomorrow. Back in September Aspyr released a single-player demo of the game but due to technical online hurdles, the multiplayer demo was delayed until the engineers could get a multiplayer demo to work on GameRanger. Mac gamers who haven't yet purchased Battlefield 1942 and would like a taste of the great multiplayer gameplay in Battlefield 1942 will definately want to check out the demo once released. The demo will be released on Macgamefiles.com. Since this is a large demo (over 300 MB), Mac gamers will be encouraged to download the demo via Bittorrent once the demo is available. Those of you familiar with Bittorrent and would like to help "seed" the demo via Bittorrent come tomorrow should contact tuncer@insidemacgames.com. A fast internet connection is required (DSL, cable modem, etc). Stay tuned to IMG for more details.

WoW Battlegrounds Preview, Korean Launch 8:49 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story
Blizzard has posted part 2 of their Battlegrounds preview for World of Warcraft. A concentrated PvP event meant for a large number of players, the Battlegrounds offer a chance to stage epic battles between the Horde and the Alliance. Part 2 of the preview discusses some of the tasks players will be faced with. For example, victory conditions for a battle include both the killing of the enemy's general as well as destroying their main base. Standing in the way will be a host of high-level NPC guards, as well as a defensive structure known as a Tower: Towers are defensive structures garrisoned by several NPC guards. The garrison is armed with extremely long ranged bows or guns, and can snipe at enemy players from far away. These towers will send volleys of fire at onrushing attackers, softening them up before they crash into the wall of defending enemy players and NPCs. Other features discussed include the rebuilding of structures and PvP-related quests that offer various rewards useful in Battlegrounds play.In other news, Blizzard recently announced the launch of WoW in Korea. "Officially launching World of Warcraft in Korea represents the achievement of a very significant milestone for Blizzard," said Mike Morhaime, president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. "The Korean gaming community is extremely important to us, and we believe players in Korea will be pleased when they discover everything that World of Warcraft has to offer." As with the European launch, the Korean side has a full on-site support team as well as a translated client.
