Robin Hood Robs Gold (Master) Status on OS X
7:35 AM | Andy Largent | Comment on this story

This morning e.p.i.c. Interactive announced their isometric strategy game Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood has gone Gold Master for the Mac. This means the game's beta is finalized, approved and should be heading into duplication now for release in the next two weeks.

Freeverse Software will be helping to distribute the game to North American Mac owners. The title needs fairly low system requirements as well: G3/G4, 300 Mhz; MacOS 10.2 or higher; 128 MB RAM; 8 MB videocard.

Here's a run down of the game's feature set:

- More than 30 non-linear missions in which, for instance, you have to save Little John and Brother Tuck and prevent a wedding between Marianne and the revolting Guy of Gisbourne or attack the taxation collectors of the Sheriff of Nottingham
- Visit five giant castles on different ways, at day- and night times, and
at different weather conditions
- Play with up to nine integrated characters being outstanding due to their
specific abilities and qualities
- Due to an innovative fighting system you are able to control the hero’s
sword in battles by mouse
- Decide yourself which tactic appears to be the right one for you: reach the goal by creeping around the guards or fight bravely using sword and bow
For more on Robin Hood, be sure to check out IMG's recent preview of the game or download the demo available now at Macgamefiles.

7:35 AM | Johan Hansén | Comment on this story

Having any plans for the weekend? How about supporting uDevGames 2004? With only a few days left of the voting period, now would be an excellent time to place your votes for the entries in the largest independent Mac gaming event of the year.

If you still haven't checked it out yet you are highly encouraged to download and play as many of the entrants as you can squeeze in on your spare time.

If you have absolutely no clue of what uDevGames is, here's a short backstory:

uDevGames - The Mac Game Development contest" was established by iDevGames in 2001 to energize game development on the Macintosh platform. Now, in its fourth year, and having awarded over $50,000 worth of prizes to past winners, it's no surprise that the uDevGames contest has garnered such praise as, "The best thing to ever happen for independent Mac game developers." With more than 80 entries since the inaugural contest, the uDevGames contest is fulfilling its original mission of educating, expanding, and promoting all aspects of independent game development on the Macintosh.
So don't come with any silly excuses, just head over there and support independent Mac gaming in the absolutely best way there is, to play the games and post your feedback! The future of Mac gaming depends on you. Remember, the voting ends on November 23rd.
