Aspyr Bringing Shrek 2 to the Mac
8:16 AM | Andy Largent | Comment on this story
Aspyr Media announced this morning they are porting Shrek 2 to Mac OS X. This tie-in to the just-released mainstream movie of the same name lets you take on five playable characters as you work your way through the film's storyline. Each of the characters has different talents to complete the various puzzles.
Here is more from the PR:
The puzzles and challenges are the most formidable element of Shrek 2™: The Game. Each of the playable characters has special talents and particular combat maneuvers to aid in completing the tasks. An automated buddy system allows players to switch between these characters and use their unique abilities to solve puzzles. Players also collect coins as they maneuver through various locations and can use those to increase characters’ strength and health. The porting is being handled by Ryan Gordon, also known for his work for Epic on the Unreal Tournament series. Aspyr expects the game to be ready sometime this July, so stay tuned to IMG for the latest.

Custer Soars To A New Desktop
8:51 AM | Brad Custer | Comment on this story
In a nod to our fellow Americans overseas as well as the upcoming release of yet another title for the Mac, IMG's Brad Custer has designed this week's desktop after GraphSim's upcoming flight simulator, F/A-18 Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Here's a snippet of what I had to say:
With our recent preview of F/A-18 Operation Iraqi Freedom from GraphSim Entertainment, I've been receiving a lot of interest in a desktop for this title. Of course it could also be influenced by just watching the news too these days. ;) In this week's offering I wanted create a desktop that would pay tribute to our soldiers overseas. So, with the help of GraphSim Entertainment and U.S. Department of Defense, I was able to create this wallpaper. I simply entitled it, "Top Gun", and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it. :).Readers interested in downloading the latest work can find it at the usual place, Custer's Desktops.

Last week's IMG Poll has ended. In it we asked if you own a console gaming machine and if you do, which one. The results were pretty interesting. Thirty-one percent said they didn't have one while 25 percent said they owned a PlayStation 2 followed by the Gamecube at 20 percent and the X-Box at 18 percent. In all, 69 percent of IMG readers own one form of console or another.

IMG Posts New World of Warcraft Journal
8:16 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story
IMG has posted Part 1 of a character journal from Blizzard Entertainment's upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), World of Warcraft. Written by Michael Phillips, the journal discusses life in the World of Warcraft beta.
Here's a glimpse:
What came next is hazy at best. The Plague hit my church very hard, it seemed as if everyone took ill at once. Everyone, save me, I was the last to succumb to the sickness. I remember lying in bed, feeling so cold and sleepy. It was the type of chill that went undaunted by even the thickest furs. At first, I was in pain, terrible pain. The feeling of cold cut through me like a knife. Still, as I lay dying, I prayed. I still had faith in my prayers. After a few days, or weeks, I really don’t know anymore… I sat down in my favorite chair, numb from the cold and I closed my eyes. After that, I was awash in blackness, blackness worse than any childhood nightmare. However, this obviously was not the end.Included are nine new screenshots from the game.
