MoH: Breakthrough in Duplication
8:30 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story

Following up on the news of Medal of Honor Allied Assault: Breakthrough hitting Gold Master status, Aspyr has recently updated its Project Status page to indicate that Breakthrough is now in duplication. An expansion to the popular WWII FPS, Breakthrough continues to throw players into the war, this time using the backdrops of both North Africa and Italy.

As Baker, you’ll join the American push across the deserts of Northern Africa and through the central mountains of Italy toward Rome. You’ll find yourself in the path of Germany’s famed Afrika Korps Panzers, under fire on the beach at Sicily, and hammering your way into the natural fortress of Monte Cassino.
Aspyr currently plans to start shipping Breakthrough on May 24th, and targets May 28th for nationwide store availability.

Sony Halts Development On Mac Everquest
11:18 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story

Sony Online Entertainment today confirmed what many in the Everquest community have known for months: development on Mac Everquest has been halted. In a post to the eqmac.com forum, an Everquest gamer posted an email from D. Scott Mattson, Executive Director of Customer Service, that states that there would be no further development on the Mac version of Everquest.

Here's the full post:

My apologies Brian but as a company Sony Online Entertainment will not be making any changes or coding fixes to the Al Kabor server. This decision was a business decision made some time ago by our Executive staff and still stands today. Even if we wanted to we could not do the changes as we have no programmers on staff that can accommodate the needs of the Mac. This is probably going to come as a blow to you and your friends but at this juncture this is the situation we are left with.
Although Sony will not be fixing any bugs or many any further changes to the Mac version, the Mac Everquest server is still online. For more, be sure to check out the full post at eqmac.com.

IMG Reviews Dark Horizons: Lore
10:56 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story

Inside Mac Games has posted a review of Dark Horizons: Lore, the online mech game developed by Max Gaming Technologies and published by GarageGames.

Here's a clip from the review:

Thanks to the choice of Max Gaming Technologies to build Lore using the portable Torque Engine, versions for the Mac and PC arrived concurrently. However, the current retail version is still considered a work-in-progress according to the Dark Horizons site, and very much feels like it. This is a cause of teeth-grinding for myself, as the very outline of a quality game is evident in Lore's structure. The game just screams potential in so many areas, and the tiny spark of mech fandom within me writhes about when thinking of the possibilities.

Marathon:Resurrection Beta Patch 1.3 Released
8:36 AM | Johan Hansén | Comment on this story

Team Unpfhorgiven has released a new beta of Marathon: Resurrection, their total conversion for Unreal Tournament that brings the legendary first person shooter from Bungie to the 3D world of the UT engine.

Some of the changes in this build include:

  • Real-time carnage report
  • LOTS of code cleanups and bugfixes
  • Integrated AMS code into PlayerPawn/Bot classes to allow skin packs like the Mjolnir skin contest skins
  • Carcasses are messier
  • Restructured PlayerPawn/Bot class hierarchy and renamed a bunch of classes to folow a logical convention
  • Restructured Gametype hierarchy. MarathonGame subclasses TeamGamePlus, all Marathon gametypes subclass MarathonGame.
  • More blood
  • Created a new toggleable UI (select in Mod menu) which replaces the default UT setup. In addition to simply looking RAD, this will help keep MR stuff like maps and player models separate from stock UT stuff.
  • Tycho at Team Unpfhorgiven also notes that this hopefully will be the last demo build, and that the next release of this major project will include the full singleplayer campaign.

When that will be out depends on how much help the team can get, but they aim for a summer release. Head over to the Marathon Resurrection site to find out how you can help out.
