Nanosaur 2 Hits Alpha

Pangea Software's Brian Greenstone let IMG know today that Nanosaur 2 has hit alpha and is racing its way towards completion. According to Greenstone, the sequel to one of the most popular Mac shareware games ever could be released as early as March 10th.
Here's what Greenstone had to say about the game going Alpha:
Nanosaur 2 has gone alpha, and we expect to be beta next week which should put us on target for a March 10th release date. All of the levels are done and everything is in the game. Just a few placeholder things need to be swapped out for final artwork, and then we can declare beta, at which point we'll continue testing until we think it's 100% solid.IMG will be posting a hands-on preview of the game shortly. IMG Previews Second Life

IMG has posted a preview of Second Life, a new massive multiplayer online game currently in beta where players create their own characters who live in an ever-changing online world. Similar to games such as The Sims: Online, the game offers players a complete virtual world for their characters to inhabit.

Gameplay in Second Life is kind of hard to explain. It seems to be made up of equal parts of interaction, exploration, and work. In order to make money to buy all the good stuff (land, objects, outfits, whatever) you need to create things to sell to other users. This means you are going to have to spend some time working - developing models, textures and scripts to power objects. Once you have an object to sell, you need a space to both advertise and sell your product. iDevGames Back Online

The popular gaming site dedicated to Macintosh game developers, iDevGames, is now back online. The site was hacked late last year, right in the middle of iDevGames' contest public voting period, disrupting the event and postponing the tabulation of the votes.
Here's the welcome back post from iDevGames:
With most of the server issues laid to rest, I have installed our content management system today, Mambo. The content, which was backed up before we migrated was also successfully restored today as well. The next step is to re-install the forum software and restore its data. Along with a few others, the new iDevGames "template (skin) will be tweaked over the next few days. We also plan to convert it from tables to full CSS — for faster loading.I would like to thank all of those who waited patiently during these trying times, and for GoodDoug's hand in helping with Mac OS X Server. We have a great deal of content in the works, and once the forum is back online, I hope to rekindle the "21 Days Later Contest." On a side note, iDevGames is now being hosted in my homeoffice off of a CATV modem running at 1Mbps upstream. Within the next few weeks however, I will be installing a Fiber-Optics (Fiber-to-the-home) network for iDevGames. This should allow for much greater speed and the ability for us to resume our downloads section. Ambrosia Updates pop-pop to v1.0.4

Ambrosia Software has updated their networked arcade action game pop-pop to version 1.0.4, fixing a few bugs and adding enhancements to the title. In case you haven't tried pop-pop, it contains hundreds of puzzles for singleplayer mode, as well as the ability to connect up with opponents and fight via the internet.
Here's a quick list of what's new:
- fixes inability to start a network game when no options are modifiedTo download the pop-pop updater or the full 1.0.4 demo, head over to Macgamefiles now.
- fixes very infrequent "lazy symbol pointer" problem at launch
- support for sharing a license code across all users on MacOS X
- updated Register application with new graphics and contact info
- packaged as .smi to avoid Stuffit problems with bundled executables
