Feral: Worms 3D Site, XIII Status, CM Winners
8:13 AM | Andy Largent | Comment on this story
A number of news updates from Feral Interactive today give insights into popular upcoming games from this UK-based company. Worms 3D, the latest 3D foray for this classic series, now has a mini-site at Feral with a list of features, screenshots from the Mac version and more.
Here's the gameplay description in case you're unfamiliar with what the series is all about:
Worms 3D still has the same pick-up-and-play ease with quirky humour. While taking advantage of the extra dimension - the move to 3D has not changed any part of the premise of Worms – it’s still your team of between one and five worms taking turns to lob missiles, grenades, homing pigeons and exploding bananas across an unlimited number of randomly generated but fully destructible playfields. To this end, the gameplay remains relatively unchanged yet enhanced: relying on you, the player to judge the trajectory and strength of your shots in order to inflict maximum damage on opponents. All the favourite weapons such as dynamite, bazooka, grenade and sheep are all still present and correct, and additions such as ‘Wormpot’ have been included too.IMG contacted Feral for more info on when Worms 3D might be made available, and Camille Thouvenin was nice enough to say they're still shooting for Q2 with the game.
In other news, Feral announced the cell-shaded shooter XIII is "coming incredibly well" and should be ready for a mid-April release. Here's their plan for releasing more info on the title:
Every week between now and then new a new element of the XIII mini-site will be going live. Today there's a brand new teaser trailer with more clues to XIII's identity, some new screenshots, and new features and links pages.Stay tuned for more from IMG on XIII in the coming weeks as well.
Check back next week to get up close and personal with the main characters - the Mongoose awaits.
Finally, in a follow-up to an earlier contest, Feral has announced the winners among the buyers of Championship Manager 03/04. If you purchased the game from their online store, head over to their news page to see if you've won.

IMG Reviews VGA to NTSC/PAL TV Video Converter
11:01 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story
Ever wanted to plug your Mac to your TV and play your favorite games on that big screen TV? Well now with the StarTech VGA to NTSC/PAL TV Video Converter, you can easily do that. IMG's Scott Turner took a test drive of this cool little converster and has wrtten up a review of the product.
Here's a snippet from the review:
Opening up the box containing StarTech.com's product was a surprise to say the least. The small box had a hole on the inside inlaid with the converter, slugly fit into the packaging. All of the required cables for accomplishing the jobs that lay ahead of me were built straight into this remote control looking device. A USB connector was present to provide power from a computer to the device, as well as a VGA video connector and an audio plug to draw the picture and sound from a computer. To convert it to the TV screen, the device also has built into it an S-Video plug and RCA composite video plugs, as well as left and right audio RCAs to plug into an audio reciever or possibly your TV as well. A switch on the side of the unit allows the user to vary the device between recognizing the European video standard of PAL or the American NTSC standard. To check out the entire review, please follow the link below.

Shadowbane Designer Diary
8:42 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story
A new Designer Diary has recently been added to the official Shadowbane site. Written by Lead Designer Damion 'Ubiq' Schubert, the diary remarks on Shadowbane's success as a PvP/Siege style MMORPG and lists a number of goals that the designers mean to tackle in the future.
The goals include a number of tweaks to make the siege aspect of SB run more smoothly, and include pledges to increase the stability and performance of both clients and servers, make rebuilding a vanquished city easier, and improving the wall capabilities of cities:
You will see some more improvements in this vein in the next patch, and we have even more plans beyond that. The upcoming siege spires (which I'll discuss in more detail in the next diary entry) should be a big step in that direction - guilds will be able to build siege spires which forbid flight and translocation inside of their city grid. Those interested in the full list are encouraged to check it out at the provided link.

Custer's Desktops Are Alienated
8:13 AM | Brad Custer | Comment on this story
This week's desktop, courtesy of Brad Custer, focuses on Aliens vs. Predator 2 and also ties in the upcoming AvP movie. The game introduces even more atmospheric sci-fi action, once again allowing gamers to experience combat as a vicious Alien, well-armed Marine, or mighty Predator.
Here's how this desktop came to be:
I always enjoy the email I receive from the viewers of my section. The words of praise are great to receive and the main reason I continue to do this. :) I really enjoy it though when I receive an unique request like the one that inspired this week's desktop. Everyone has heard of the movie coming out based on AvP. Well, a loyal fan of my work asked for me to create a wallpaper for Aliens vs. Predator 2, but to tie it into the movie too. I was honored to attempt this request and I was quiet happy with the results. It features the headshots of the two main lifeforms of the title. So, with the help of MacPlay and the internet, I was able to create this wallpaper. I simply entitled it, "Ravage", and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it. :)Those looking to download Custer's latest can find links in the usual spot.
