MacSoft today announced that it will be publishing Epic Games’ highly anticipated Unreal Tournament 2004 for the Macintosh. The sequel to last year’s hugely popular Unreal Tournament 2003, UT04 takes gladiator combat to a new level with the addition of land and air vehicles, an arsenal of new weaponry (including mines, rocket-propelled grenades and stationary gun turrets), daunting new arenas, epic battlefields and the challenge of the Assault and Onslaught game types.
Here's more from the official press release:
According to Epic Games’ Mark Rein, “We’ve been working on the Mac version of Unreal Tournament 2004 right alongside the Windows version. Mac users should get a nice surprise when the official ship dates are announced.”MacSoft also announced that it expects to ship Unreal Tournament 2004 midway through the first quarter of 2004. We'll be sure to keep you posted on any further developments.

Unreal Tournament 2004 also adds the UnrealTV broadcast system, which allows hundreds of people to log on and watch famous combatants duke it out, and the return of the mighty Skaarj as a playable race.
“Unreal Tournament 2004 is more proof of Epic’s awesome commitment to the Mac platform,” according to Peter Tamte, MacSoft’s founder. “It’s going to be a thrill going online against both Mac and Windows players when this game ships.”
IMG Reviews X2: Wolverine's Revenge
11:47 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story
IMG has posted a review of Aspyr's X2: Wolverine's Revenge. Here's a clip from the review:
With a proper controller in hand I begin slashing my way through the game's early levels. The fighting controls are simplistic -- players can punch or kick, throwing a few different combinations as they do so. If they hit the right combination while next to an opponent, one of Wolverine's "strike" moves goes off, and he immediately runs through a script of pre-programmed (yet still impressive) mayhem. It's possible to wipe out a room of goons with one of these moves, and while players don't actually control Wolverine while he's "striking", it's still a pleasure to watch. To check out the entire review, please follow the link below.
IMG Review: X2: Wolverine's Revenge
Wolverine's claws can be extended or withdrawn at will -- extending them does extra damage, withdrawing them triggers his mutant power and allows him to heal. In addition to his standard wandering-claws-of-death mode, Wolverine has "stealthy" and "sense" modes. The first allows him to move quietly, hugging walls and surprise guards. The second heightens his animal senses, permitting him to "see" the thermal footprints of his prey, catch their scent (which appears as a green stream on the screen), and detect which way they are facing.

Custer Unleashes a Strategic Desktop

IMG's Brad Custer is back with another new desktop. This week he features Freeverse's Solace. Here's what Brad had to say about his latest creation:
Solace from Rocco Bowlingand Freeverse Software is a request that's been in my box for quite some time. By now you know my complusive nature to honor each email I receive. In this week's wallpaper I wanted to focus on the the world and key players in the game. So, with the help of Rocco Bowling and Freeverse Software, I was able to create this desktop. I simply entitled this feature, "Strategy", and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.To check out this and many more of Custer's Desktops, head over to his section on IMG by following the links below.
