Command & Conquer: Generals is coming to the Mac courtesy of Aspyr Media. Command & Conquer has been one of the most popular real-time strategy series' of all time, yet most of the C&C titles have been mysteriously absent on the Mac platform. At last, Aspyr has finally broken through the barriers that held back this fantastic series of titles from your favorite computer platform.

Here are some details from the official press release:

"Aspyr is very pleased to be able to bring Command & Conquer Generals to the Macintosh, it is one of the premiere real-time strategy games on the market and will be a great addition to any Mac gamer's library," said Glenda Adams, Director of PC & Mac Development at Aspyr.

Command & Conquer Generals puts players' trigger fingers on the pulse of modern warfare as they become a powerful general and control massive armies of bleeding-edge military weaponry across a globe teetering on the brink of Armageddon. Players can annihilate the opposition in the 22-mission single-player campaign or dish out the damage in global multiplayer mayhem. As a General, smart decisions and victories over enemies will gain players experience points. These points can then be allocated to unlocking new units and weapons of mass destruction.

Following yesterday's preview of Age Of Mythology, Apple has now posted a trailer of the forthcoming sequel in the popular Age Of Empires series of real-time strategy titles from MacSoft.

Aspyr has released a beta patch for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003, bringing the game to version 1.1. The update delivers the following changes...

Bug Fixes
• The game now starts up correctly under OS9 with ATI cards.
• Fixed problems with losing InputSprocket events under OS9.
• Fixed a problem with large textures under OS9.

Other Changes
• The game now runs much faster on ATI Radeon 8500 and 9000 cards under Jaguar. For other cards, performance should be about the same.
• Sped up drawing of scenes where there are a lot of trees or bushes (eg, tee box at Princeville #2, Pebble #5).
• Added support for native resolution of Apple 15" and 17" displays.
• Fixed "off by 1 pixel" problems with UI drawing on ATI cards.

Shareware heroes Ambrosia Software have announced a new title - Aki Mahjong Solitaire, their version of the two thousand year old Japanese tile game.

Aki, currently in beta stage, allows players to go at clearing twelve traditional board layouts as they pick away free pairs of matching tiles. As in most computer Mahjong games, the game comes with undos, hints that suggest unnoticed matches, and a reshuffle command for when players get really stuck.

Where Aki differentiates itself from its digital rivals, however, is the game's unique cultural side. As players complete boards, they can track their progress on a digital map of Japan, with each board representing a different location in the country. As players move onto new boards, they have the option of being presented with cultural and historical information about each area before tackling the tiles.

As listed on their website, whose link is posted below, the game is currently in beta stage, and is subject to change. Players interested in the title should head over to Ambrosia and check some of the game's screenshots.
