Chariots: The First Olympics Announced 8:13 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story
Candella Software has recently announced their intention to develop Chariots: The First Olympics for the Mac. Also planned for the PC, Linux, and multiple gaming consoles, Chariots takes as its backdrop the age of the first Olympics in ancient Greece, with chariot racing being the prime event of the day. Some of the gameplay features are as follows: - Choose from among eight different charioteers, both men and women, each with their own unique abilities
- Eight different chariot models with different handling characteristics
- Race through the countryside of the ancient Hellenic world. Race tracks which plunge from soaring snowbound mountains to verdant Grecian meadows and meander through undulating deserts.
- Marvel at the beauty of ancient monuments like the Lighthouse of Pharos, Temple of Zeus, Acropolis and the Giza pyramids.
Planned graphic and sound features include vertex and pixel shader support, volumetric shadows, use of TruForm/N-patches, and EAX support. Chariots will also support up to eight players in multiplayer internet matches. Those interested in more information, including screenshots and a community forum, can find all at Planet Chariots.

Apple Features F1 Championship Season 2000 8:56 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story
Our friends at the Apple games web page have posted a new article featuring Feral's upcoming racing simulation, F1 Championship Season 2000. The game is scheduled to be released shortly and will be distributed in North America by MacPlay. Here's a clip from the article: You can also change the weather effects in the game and race on rain-slicked tracks or under overcast skies. If you really want to know what it’s like to be an F1 driver, turn off all the computer-assisted settings in the Difficulty menu and race in the rain with 21 other drivers who are jockeying for position with you. It certainly makes those hairpin turns a challenge. And you better make sure you have full control of your car in such conditions, because F1 offers realistic damage that will prematurely force you into the pit lane to have your tires replaced or the front or back wing on your car repaired. To learn more about F1 Championship Season, be sure to check out Apple's article. A demo of F1 is available for download from our sister site, Macgamefiles.com.

Dragon's Lair 3D Preview on XGR 8:13 AM | Jean-Luc Dinsdale | Comment on this story
Xbox gaming fan site Xtreme Gamer Radio has posted a quick and dirty preview of Ubi Soft's upcoming release, Dragon's Lair 3D, a re-make of the 1980's laserdisc arcade classic. The preview, which reads more like a teaser, briefly runs through some of the features of the game: The number of rooms in this game versus the first is astounding - you are talking 10 times the amount of rooms. Over 250 (Rick threw out the number - 275) for you to take Dirk through and before you go thinking that most have the rooms are hallways to run through or insignificant areas - stop! Sure, there are a couple that could be considered "lesser rooms" but on a whole the new castle is packed with excitement. Along with the new areas created for this game, there are the old favorites like the Robot Knight room, the three-eyed monster at the gate of the caste, and more.... Dragon's Lair 3D: Return To The Lair is an excellent game on many levels. It takes you back (for those older gamers like myself) to the beginnings of your gaming addiction and then updates it with today's technology and graphics. Whether you played this game in the arcade or are just being introduced to the wonderful world of Dirk now, this return to the world of Dragon's Lair will not disappoint the gamer in you. Mac fans wanting to get their hands on the game won't have to wait for long, as Ubi Soft has promised ports of the game to all the major gaming systems, including the Mac.Click on the link below to check out the preview.
