The Mac OS X wizards at The Omni Group recently updated their Mac OS X port of Bungie's action title Oni, fixing several bugs:
The OS X port of Oni is a free download and requires only Mac OS X 10.1 and a retail copy of Oni. Those who wish to download it can find it at The Omni Group's web site.
IMG Review: Oni
- Fixed texture rendering bugs on Nvidia cards (causing black heads for Konoko, Strikers, etc.)
- Correctly restore mouse speed on exit
- Only capture the active displays, working around a system bug where inactive displays would be captured but never released on exit, preventing subsequent play until a reboot
- Fixed most reported crashes
- The physics reflection code no longer tries to call a callback which was never initialized
- When an AI enters combat when it has no knowledge of a target, it will try to find a target rather than crashing (and if it can't find one it won't enter target)
- Implemented guard functions to make the sound code thread-safe, fixing lots of crashes in the sound code

Tomb Raider: Chronicles Patch Problems

A recent post to Usenet newsgroup comp.sys.mac.games.action suggests that the Tomb Raider: Chronicles 1.0.1 patch may have a few bugs still creeping around inside it.
Yesterday Westlake Interactive president Glenda Adams replied to the message, confirming this was indeed the case. It seems compiler issues introduced a few issues into the game, though she's already on the case and expects to have an updated patch released some time after the Macworld Expo craziness subsides:
The 1.0.1 update unfortunately introduced some new bugs because I had to use a newer version of CodeWarrior to do the build :( I'm working on tracking down what went wrong, so I can release a 1.0.2 that fixes the original bugs plus the new ones, but it's taking a bit of time (and between the holidays and Macworld, time is in short supply). Hopefully I'll fix these new bugs and get a new patch out shortly after Macworld.We have supreme confidence these problems will be resolved as soon as possible, and it should be noted that not everyone playing the game has reported similar experiences.

Mac gamers around the world have come to know Mark Adams, the president of the popular porting house, Westlake Interactive. Easily one of the most popular gaming figures in the Mac gaming community, Mark Adams and his company have ported dozens of games to the Mac over the years.
As of January 1st, however, Mark Adams is no more. Today Inside Mac Games presents a very special One on One with Glenda Marie Adams, formerly known as Mark Adams. Here's a snippet from the article:

Glenda: Well, it's exciting for me, although I hope it really doesn't affect Mac gamers in anything but a positive way. It's a bit odd talking about it in a public forum since it's more related to me personally than it is about the gaming business. But I want to be up front about it, since it's something everyone will eventually know about. If you aren't interested in my personal life, skip ahead to where we talk about games in this One on One.
For a long time I've dealt with a condition known as Gender Dysphoria. When I was born, my body's outward gender appearance didn't match my internal gender identity. Over a the last few years I've been under treatments to bring my outside and inside congruent. Today I'm completing a major step in the process by beginning to live full time outwardly as a woman, including legally changing my name to Glenda Marie Adams.

Apple's Games web site has posted an article examining Not a Number's free 3D creation suite, Blender Creator, and their inexpensive Blender Publisher, now available in a public beta for Mac OS X.
Here's an excerpt to whet your appetite:

Beta 3 of dimension3 Released

A recent update to the iDevGames web site gives word that the third beta of the Mac OS X-only 3D engine dimension3 has been released. A number of changes have been made since the Beta 2 update, including new weapons, better documentation, and easier-to-understand example scripts. Would-be game developers are free to use dim3 as a base for their titles.

Cave Dig 3 Released

Shareware maker Foxchange Software yesterday announced the addition of a new title to their lineup of games, Cave Dig 3. This seemingly simple arcade puzzler features impressive sprite graphics and reasonable system requirements. In the game, you take the role of a fox named Simon. He has been transported into an underground world, and you must help him dig his way out.
Here's a rundown of Cave Dig 3's relatively light system requirements:
