I have d3d8.dll and ddraw.dll and same version. Why is UT2004 still printing "The D3d8.dll file is linked to missing export ddraw.dll:ddentry12"

The problem is probably due to differing versions of the two dlls in question....d3d8.dll and ddraw.dll Find both dlls (they should be in the windows\system directory) and right click on each file and goto /properties/version tab for each. If the version numbers are not the same..there's your problem. Get the latest Directx version from microsoft (redistribution version) and install - that should solve.

I get the same error message with other software, even with ddraw.dll in same folder - please help.

Demo works fine, full version doesnt work well at all! The demo runs at about 50-60 fps while the full version works at about 7-14 WTF?!

when i start the game it says

check for any USB/Firewire audio devices plugged in, headphones, iMic, iSight, stuff like that

the"alBuffer.c" is a clue towards this from OpenAL (audio layer or something like that)

I'm on a dual processor G5, also running 10.3.2 in case that helps

A quick color bug report:

My home G4/1x1250 with ATI 9600--colors broken

My G5/2x2000 with Apple 9600--colors are fine

So it's either to do with being a G4 or using ATI's drivers?

Both are running nearly identical setups--10.3.2 and both have over 768mb RAM so I don't think that's an issue.

hmm - colours dodgy in panther - works fine in jaguar...the opposite of 2003 :oS vehicles - great fun!

Got it off BitTorrent in about 30 minutes. Plays a little more smoothly than UT2003 actually. (Framerate wise). Running on a dual 867 with geforce 4 ti. Thanks Ryan Gordon!

Ive seen the demo floating arount some BitTorrent networks. Thats where I'm getting mine.

For those that don't know, BitTorrent downloads from what multiple users have already downloaded allowing for sweet speeds, and can resume downloads.

For all of you downloading and it getting cut off, learn the power of the terminal and curl :)

for instance:

curl -C - -L -O http://the_url_to_the_file

In order:
-C - Tries to resume a download where it left off
-L Will try to follow any redirects
-O Uses the name of the file you're trying to d/l (like http://someplace/my_file.zip -- would download as my_file.zip)

If/when the download times out, just re-enter the command on the terminal line and it will pick up where it left off.

For those not wanting to use the terminal, find one of the many "download managers". Most of 'em support resumable downloads.

He He...sorry. I fixed the problem...I had a bad version (from one of the many partial downloads that I got) mounted. I just restarted and that got rid of the bad mounts and I was able to mount it right.

When I try to start the game up, it gives me a startup screen, but then it quits after that. Does anyone know why?

I've downloaded this twice (the full 200.2 MB download) and when I go to mount it from it's dmg. it gives me an error! Can anyone please help?!

damn, the color bug seems to be there again even ingame. guess its a compatibility issue with certain vid cards.

Its an awesome demo, but not really playable for anything below the requirements, I have a 700mhz iMac, and its barely playable. Ultra slow and laggy, and it is very choppy. I love the game, but now I can't run it.

As noted by some other people I get strange-colored menus whenever I start the game (like the color bug in ut2k3 between jaguar and panther). However, selecting another resolution in the options menu and switching back to your prefered fixes it, however I've had to do this every time I launch. Just a head's up.

Yea, I tried the MGF link twice, both times it quit around 12mb, it was going very slowly too...about 40kb/s

An added feature is that it gets slower and slower.

My exclusive download from IMG continues to DL some and then quit...about what I expected.

You have to select save linked file to Download... My browser didn't how to handle the *.bz2 file extention....
