This release is purely content free. No bot code, no textures, no audio... it's completely raw.
what does this mean? it means that a group interested in developing on the platform won't have to waste time ripping out all the UT2K3/2K4 code in order to customize it the way that they want to.
Of course, if they *wanted* that code, then they're out of luck. But they could always get that from the game itself, I guess.
Benefit: you can get the full engine and develop to your hearts content without having to worry about licensing fees.
If you want to make money off it, you'll have to come up with the cash -- but that's what a publisher is for =) |
