...that last line might be the best thing I've ever read.

I bet suits like these just get more and more common as the economy goes south-- especially for both movies and games, what with broadband filesharing.

both movies were awful. the worst part of tr2 was when she punched the shark and it then let her ride it...
I can honestly say I was only horny during that movie twice, and that isn't like me at all, it should of had more t&a because it certainly had nothing else going for it.

Who cares about the game?
NCG_Mike July 29 - 4:30 PM

I like the first movie, because it was rubbish. I'll be off to see the second when it makes it here.

Also, seeing A. J. Rimmer as a butler is worth a laugh.

Tomb Raider : Angel of Darkness

I liked the movie . lol It was shitie and it sucked!!!!lol!!!!!!!Ha Ha

Saw Movie/Hated it
John Surovy July 29 - 3:17 PM

Though I heard the game was "so-so" I never actually played it.... however, I did see the movie and it was horrible... So, to recap... whatever one might say about the game, the movie was horrible on its own merit.

Saw it. Hated it.
Deebs July 29 - 2:38 PM

Sad to admit it, but I saw TR2 this past weekend and was surpried. Not because the film was better than I expected but how much worse of a film it was compared to the first movie which many of us know, was a piece of crap.

Save your money if you were even entertaining the thought. I haven't played the game but considering how many negative reviews I've read, I plan on taking others advise and steering clear of wasting any more of my time. I'm still reelin gfrom that movie. Wow.

good sign

I guess this shows that a huge advertizing blitz (involving horrible java applets that play the trailer w/o asking me on some of my frequented gaming sites) and huge breasts won't make a movie a winner. Still, it was probably profitable, so they'll do it again.

Paramount to customers: videogames make us itch
Mood: Perplexed July 29 - 1:45 PM

Activision recently sued Paramount for devaluing their Star Trek videogame license. They blamed the cancellation of Deep Space Nine and Voyager, along with the lukewarm reception to Enterprise... What goes around, comes around.

As for the Tomb Raider movies, they were good for giving Red Dwarf's Chris Barrie gainful employment and nothing else.

Crap in, crap out
Shaitan July 29 - 1:34 PM

Hmmm... perhaps crappy advance reviews of the film along with an equally crappy first film might have something to do with it. As for Frigidman's comment: Angelina WAS a great actress early on, but fame seems to have sucked out her ability. That said, a no-name REAL brit would have been a better choice for Lara than an established actress.

Blame the first movie, the poor acting, the blahness of it all...
Frigidman™ July 29 - 12:59 PM

As what Matt said, I didn't bother to consider the second Tomb Raider movie, based solely off what I thought of the first one.

I personally think Angelina Jolie is a bad actress, and the role of tomb raider was played poorly in respect to the games.

Since I havn't played Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, my "not going to see it" is purely the result of what I thought of the first movie.

The blame game
Matt Diamond July 29 - 12:44 PM

Maybe they should look no further than the first movie if they want to blame something for the weak opening. Unless they figure that only people who play video games were going to see it in the first place (hmm, maybe they'd have a point at that.)

As for the game, I'd love to hear about what happened there. Presumably the publisher pressured them into an "early" release (not so early given the delays.) The guy who resigned, what was the story there? I'm sure all will be revealed in the fullness of time. Lots of finger pointing, I imagine. Unfortunately I expect we won't see a Gamasutra post-mortem about it; too many people will want to cover their butts.
