Neverwinter Nights Mac Update

Heeheehee!
Fred Fnord April 09 - 2:19 AM

I just think it's so quaint and funny: "The Macintosh community and the Mac version of Neverwinter Nights are important to BioWare." It reminds me of something... now what was it... oh yeah.

"Your call is very important to us... we will get to it as soon as we possibly can, so please stay on the line... for a WEEK."

Do they really think people are going to buy this at $59.99 when it comes out? I mean, once you've waited for two years already, what's another year of waiting until the price goes down to $9.99?

Oh, and to "G," the person who said 'At least the editing tools are back in, right?' Unless you know something I don't, they aren't. It will ship with the server and the client and the single-player game, but no editing tools.

There has been an unofficial offer from someone at Bioware that they will assist a bunch of volunteer programmers with making an editor for Linux that can potentially be ported to MacOS X.

Oh, wait, I've actually put that too strongly. Someone from OUTSIDE Bioware made the statement that maybe a particular someone inside Bioware would help this bunch of volunteer programmers with making an editor for Linux that can potentially be ported to MacOS X. Nobody inside Bioware has officially commented one way or the other yet, so people are assuming that that's a 'yes'.

A surfeit of boundless optimism and a dearth of sense form the most striking patterns when brought into close proximity, hmm?

wow, losers

I remember when the mac version was planned for simultaneous release. I'm just holding onto the explitives when I see that "update". I just hope the tech test thing doesn't show my PowerBook can't run it. I'll already be missing the pretty shader-enhanced water.

Don't shoot the messenger

I'm glad IMG gives us a string and cup to hear what BioWare is saying (or not) about NWN. At least we know that there is nothing to report, which to me is interesting in itself. But I haven't been visiting IMG daily for NWN news either.

I can now rest easy, buy DungeonSiege from MacSoft, play it this spring, then buy NWN, also distributed by MacSoft and a competing product now, this summer.. or fall... winter..? But the dungeon master tools are back in, right?

I've only been waiting a few months...
Eggman April 07 - 2:40 PM

...instead of a year and a half to two years like plenty of other users, and already I'm getting frustrated at the fact that it's taking this long for this game to come out. Someone the other day made the comment that IMG should refrain from posting any more news on NWN until it's something specific about a release date, the release of a tech trial, or that someone WILL produce the toolset. I mean, it's been a month and a half since we got ANY news at all from these guys (the last update was mid-February), and this update is little more than reiterating what was said the LAST time...

I can actually feel my enthusiasm for this game slipping away...
